It has made it to October already. I changed the calendar this morning so I am the king of the month! Ha!  Our journey took us to the Church at Nanjuni this morning. It is located on the road to Gnani,  east of Yendi . We are enjoying the new road that goes by this congregation but the quality and amount of the materials used are sorely lacking. This is the road the big dump trucks use to come to Yendi loaded with sand and gravel. The road surface is already showing wear and the road isn’t a year old yet.  That’s sad!

It took us a few minutes to find a place for the pickup to turn off of the road because this new road has high cement curbs within the village limits that keeps you from pulling off the road wherever you want. We were not late so everything worked out fine. Brother Amos, the church leader that attends the monthly class greeted us upon our arrival. I was glad we brought the bench as a gift to the church because it was really needed.  Simon, another of the other leaders, led the bible class and Timothy interpreted for us.   There were 57 adults and 70 children that were in attendance. As usual I spoke about witchcraft and the like.

After we finished with the question and answers we walked over to the chief’s house and greeted him . We  are well acquainted with this chief.  He asked me why I didn’t bring him a second wife from the states.  Kandie was quick to chime in and say that in the States it was illegal to have more than one wife at a time. He chuckled and through an interpreter he said in Ghana you can have as many as you like.

The congregation sent a gift of yams with us as we were leaving to go back to Yendi.

Later this afternoon we had several guests come by the compound.  Brother Zack , a church leader from Bakpaba, came with a friend to get two pairs of reading glasses .  We try to keep a good supply of cheap reading glasses from Dollar General or Dollar Tree in stock. The glasses work out just fine and the people really appreciate getting them. Our other guest was the father of the child that is going to have surgery tomorrow at Tamale. We had promised to help with some of the surgery costs so he came by to pick up the money. He was very grateful!  We thank all of you who graciously provide funds so we can help these children.

We hope you have had a good Lord’s Day. Please keep us in your prayers as we thank God for your support!  May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
