As soon as we got to Accra this morning we dropped our bags at the hotel / apartment and then caught a taxi to go to the immigrations office.  Two years ago when we got the visas renewed Steve had the foresight to get the phone number of the inspector that helped us.  Yesterday he sent him a message to let him know that we would be coming this morning with our passports.  Fortunately we had all of the documents that were required.  We were happy when he said that we could get a 3 year visa!  Last time we did the renewal Steve had to have a medical check and get a medical certificate.  Nothing was said about the medical certificate so we presumed that they had done away with it.

When we paid and collected our passport receipts it was time for lunch.  We had just finished eating when the inspector called and said Steve needed to have a rapid Covid test and a medical check.  Please!  We headed back to the immigrations office.  The Covid test made no sense to us.  Ghana no longer requires a Covid test to enter the country but now they require one to stay in the country!  Too bizarre!  Seems like just another way to get money.  After the Covid test Steve had blood drawn and did the medical check.  The Covid test was negative; we have to go back tomorrow to get the results of the lab test.  Lucky us!  We asked about expediting the visa and having the passports sent to the Tamale office so we would not have to come back to Accra to pick them up.  The inspector told us to wait until we had all the documents and the medical check then he would work on expediting the process.  Hopefully we will not have any hiccups tomorrow when we go to get the medical certificate.

While we were walking around looking for the Indian restaurant we found a sewing shop that had tons and tons of trims and lace.  I found several things I could use.  Sewing is my one weakness!

The manager of the hotel is sick; he cannot breathe and walks around with a wad of Kleenex.  I told Steve to stay away from him because we don’t want whatever he has which very well might be Covid.  While we were out shopping we went to a pharmacy and bought him some nose spray.  He was so excited with the gift!

Thank you for all the love, prayers and support!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
