We had to stay in Accra a couple extra days because we had business to do and I wanted to go shopping; shopping is my one weakness!  Actually one of many!

We have no vehicle and no drivers so we went out on the street and flagged down a taxi; we did not care what the taxi looked like; some of them are so rough looking that they do not appear to be road worthy.  All we cared about was that the driver spoke English and that he would let us hire him and his taxi by the hour.  When we hire by the hour it saves us a lot of time hunting for a new taxi after every stop.  It is sort of like having our own private car and driver.  It cost us about $6.00 for each hour.  On the way back to the apartment / hotel we had a flat tire.  The taxi had no spare; imagine that!  We sat in the vehicle while he went somewhere and bought a new very used bald tire to replace the one that was flat.  He probably could have saved the tire if he had not driven on it so long after it went flat.  I could hear it and knew we had a flat before the driver acknowledged it.  I finally said, “Flat tire we must stop!”  It took us 6 hours to do our business, shop and fix a flat.

While we were waiting for the driver to come back Steve walked down the street and bought some fruit for our supper.  He found avocados, mangos, tangerines and a pineapple.  Yum!  Steve was excited about the fruit but I am not a fruit lover!

Ben, the man that manages the apartment /hotel that we are staying in was proud to let us know that he got the first of his Covid vaccines.  Ben is a middle aged man and would probably not qualify for the first batch of vaccines if it was not for the fact that he is a hotel manager.   He said that he has made arrangements for the rest of the staff to get their vaccines.  This makes us very happy!  Steve said he thinks they are getting the vaccine that is manufactured in India.

While we were out and about we stopped and bought our plane tickets to fly to Tamale Friday morning.  Red will pick us up at Tamale airport and drive us to Yendi.  We have some business to take care of in Tamale before we head to Yendi.

Thank you for all you do for us and please continue to pray for us as we travel.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
