We about cooked today!  The high temperature was 109 degrees and the heat index was 130 degrees; even the Ghanaians were complaining about how hot it was!  They usually do not complain about the heat; there were very few clouds in the sky.  Usually when it is this hot we will get a rain but that was not the case today.

As soon as Zorash got here this morning we headed to the grinding mill; we knew that the day was only going to get hotter and we wanted to get that job out of the way.  The weaning mix turned out very nice; today’s batch was nice and toasty brown.

Steve had taken the old van to the mechanic yesterday so that he could change out the headlights.  The van is old; it was made in 1998.  That would make it 25 years old.  I guess it has done pretty well to be still running after 25 years especially on these roads and with the shade tree mechanics!   The lenses on the lights had never been changed and they were etched from all the dirt roads.  Gomda had changed out the lights on the green truck a few months ago and Steve could really tell a difference.  We drove the old van to Kulkpeni for Bible study tonight; Steve is very happy with the new lights.  Gomda said that these lights have their own personal fan to keep them from overheating.  Now that seems a little odd!

My (Kandie’s) Aunt Daris got her pace maker installed and she seems to be doing well after the surgery.  She is slated to go home tomorrow so hopefully that will come off without a hitch.   Please continue to remember her in your prayers.

Divine, the evangelist, stopped by this morning and he brought us 12 guinea eggs.  He said that these were for eating not setting.  I like to know because it is no fun to crack open an egg and get an unwanted surprise!

Two people who were accused of being witches were killed in Mion, the village beyond Timothy Niligrini’s village the day before yesterday.  The Ghana government has laws against attacking those that are accused of being witches but it still happens.  One of the accused people was a man and the other was a mother of 7 children.  The story the way we understand it is that the mother of the 7 children went to visit her friend and she gave her friend a small container of moringa (a herb that people snort; sometimes it is cut with tobacco, marijuana and other drugs).  After using the moringa she fell sick and had a serious headache and was near unto death; her family accused the mother of 7 of being a witch and poisoning her friend; they beat her and she confessed that the moringa was not hers but that she had gotten it from a man; when she called the man’s name she died and the mob went in search of the man.  They attacked and killed him too!  Of course a police task force is in the village but there is not much they can do.

This afternoon we repacked our suitcases to accommodate a huge mortar that I bought a few days ago; it is ancient of days and gorgeous!  Lucky me!  The mortar weighed 43 pounds.

Please keep us in your prayers.
