Still no tax clearance certificate! This time the excuse is that the electricity has been off. They have a generator and when we asked why they did not turn on the generator we were told that diesel is very expensive and that it cannot be turned on without the manager’s approval. It is pretty hard to do your work without electricity.
Papa Zachariah, the old man who is one of the watchmen still has not come back to work. This morning Steve, Mr. Iddrisu and I went to visit him to check on his condition. He said that he is much better and that he is no longer dizzy nor has double vision. He said that he was planning on coming back to work on Sunday. Tomorrow and Saturday are his regular days off. We had decided that if he was not feeling better we were going to take him to the hospital. Our main concern is making sure that there is a watchman here at all times. Yesterday someone was trying to steal a motorcycle from the mosque that is behind the mission property. The thief jumped off the motorcycle and ran away so they were not able to catch him. If Papa gets seriously sick again Nazo is going to become the watchman for the two days each week that Tichak , the other watchman, is off. Papa is getting old and one day he will have to retire.
My washing machine stopped working right in the middle of the first load of clothes this morning. Steve and I had to finish washing them in the sink. As soon as we got the washing machine cleaned out Steve called Mr. Adams, the man that can fix almost anything. Once before the machine stopped working and the problem was a fuse. We figured that was the problem again. Mr. Adams had it up and running in about 15 minutes! Happy day! I would not make a good Ghanaian wife because I do not wash clothes by hand.
Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo picked up some over time so that they can buy a couple bags of corn before the price of corn goes up. Nazo said he knew someone that had some to sell.
Zorash was not able to come to work today because the people that came to monitor her women’s group decided to spend the night and they wanted to go to the villages today to see how the women were getting along with their projects.
Thank you for your help and support!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
