I did not do much today except sit in the office and edit the annual Social Welfare Report.  Boring!  I fully intended to get the border put on the edges of the quilt top I am trying to get finished but I guess it will have to wait for another day!  I never expected it to take so long to edit the report but it is 15 pages long.  It also has pages and pages of other stuff, the annual audit has to be included as well as all the certificates, policy, procedures, passport photos and last year’s license.  At least this year we don’t have to have a police report and fingerprinting!

This morning Steve got a call from GRA, sort of like Ghana’s IRS, he said the connection was bad and all he got was that they needed his email address.  He asked the lady who called if there was a problem but he could not hear or understand her response so he decided instead of worrying about it he would just make a trip to town and find out what was going on.  Fortunately it was nothing more than that they were updating their files.  While he was out he bought apples and Papaya for the monkey; the apples are for us but Skeeter loves them.

Steve was able to get a good enough internet connection so he could see the aftermath of the hurricane; it looked awful!  And I complain when our electricity is out for a few days!  Shame on me!  I should never complain again but I am sure that I will!  Ha!  You know most of those hurricanes you guys get come from us here in Ghana.  Ghana is on the coast and most of the hurricanes start in the Bight of Benin on the coast of Ghana.  You are welcome!

Donkey said he got everything sprayed but we forgot to check to see if he sprayed the outside of the cement wall.  I hate to spray it because when there is no tall grass the people come out in the night and poop against the wall.  It is very stinky on the back side of the wall; you have to be very careful where you walk when you are on the outside of the wall!  So nasty!  Dawda, the mason says that if we leave the tall grass the neighbors will burn the grass and the fire is not good for the cement.  I don’t know if that is true or not.

We met Matthew the church leader from Kulkpeni this morning when we went for our walk.  Matthew was not able to attend the monthly classes last month so he did not get the monetary gift to buy corn.  When he stopped to greet us we told him to stop by the mission house and pick up the gift.  He came this afternoon; he was very happy to get the money.  Our thanks continue to go out to those of you who support the work!

Thanks again for the help!

The Monkeyshines

I did not want to come in the house after Mom let me out of my cage this morning.  Donkey was raking the yard and I decided that I wanted to play in the trees.  I refused to come down when Mom called me so she went in the house and left me to play.  I was fine until Donkey went to the other side of the house and I could not see anyone!  Oh!  Now that is scary stuff!!  I hate to be left alone!  A few minutes later Mom came to the door and called me; you know she has a very loud voice!  I was so happy to hear that voice today!  I jumped out of the tree and ran across the yard and into the house as fast as my little legs would let me!  I was safe again!

Mom was busy on the computer all day today; it is a wonder she does not have bed sores on her butt from all the sitting she has been doing today.  Because she was working she had me on a short leash so I could not reach the computer.  I just cannot keep my hands off the keyboard; it looks like so much fun and I know Mom really needs my help typing!  She did take mercy on me several times today and let me get off the leash and crawl into her shirt to take a nap!  She is very strict when it comes to napping inside her shirt; she refuses to let me bite her; when I take a nip I immediately get knocked on my head and she refuses to let me get out without being on the leash.  If I get restless and try to climb out she grabs me and right back to the leash I go!  Sometimes I am really not sleeping, I just don’t want to be on the leash!

For me it is not cat napping; it is monkey napping!
