Temp. 107, Heat Index 115
We visited the congregation at Bungbali today. Another small nearby congregation from Tombu joined us for worship. It has been probably 2 years since we have been able to visit either of the congregations due to some civil fighting in their area and then the Covid 19 came. This is a ninety minute drive and boy it was a hot one in a pickup without air-conditioning!
When we arrived I was pleased to see Brother Edward leading a bible class using one of the flip charts that had been distributed to the church leaders at the monthly class. Edward called me last night to ask if we were still planning to come today. He then asked if I would spend a little time to inform the congregation about Covid 19. Before I began my lesson Timothy and I presented the congregations the gifts we had brought. Both congregations received a Konkomba Bible, bread, juice, cups, pad & pen, chalk, a bag of knitted hats, and a metal box with a padlock. After a short information talk on the virus I used the scriptures from the Old and New Testament to explain God’s plan for the Israelites to have good sanitation. He also taught them how to reduce the spread of disease by quarantine. I then used Luke 17:11-19 which gives Luke’s account of the ten lepers that Christ healed.
After services during the question and answer period several questions came up about the Covid vaccine. It is believed by some Ghanaians the vaccine has some type of birth control in it. This belief is so prevalent the Ghana Ministry of Health issued a statement debunking this rumor.
At the end of the questions everyone was happy when a gentleman stood up and requested that he wanted prayer because he had not been faithful to the Church.
Brother Edward’s wife provided a nice meal of TZ and hot pepper soup accompanied by some fish. Most of you already know I am not a big fan of fish but the meal was good. We made sure to present his wife with some money for a show of appreciation for our lunch.
On our way to the pickup we were presented with a guinea fowl and some yams. I told the brothers it was a very nice gift since they had already fed us. We also stopped at the chief’s house and gave him kola (gift of money). This chief got out of his chair and danced a little jig for us to show his appreciation for the gift which surprised us!
That just about wraps it up for today. Hope you have a good Lord’s Day. Please keep us in your prayers for some rain. May God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
