We arrived in Ghana this morning.  We had an uneventful flight which is always a blessing.  We will fly up to Tamale on Thursday.  We have some business that we need to do while we are in Accra.  It is almost time for us to renew the Quota for the Child Center.  The Ghana government gives non-government organizations like the Child Center a Quota as to the number of people they are allowed to have in the organization that are from outside the country.  The Child Center has been allotted several slots; one of which Steve holds.  This is the way that we are able to have resident permits and stay in Ghana longer than normal visitors get to stay.  Once the paperwork for the Quota has been submitted and approved we will then be able to apply for another 3 years of residency.  We have to do lots of paperwork to be able to stay in Ghana.

We are excited about the new “Star Link” system that is now in place in Ghana.  We were able to purchase a kit and we are hopeful that it will work well in Yendi.  Star Link is a network / Wi-Fi thing that is connected to a satellite system that is supposed to deliver internet service all over the world.  We are so hopeful that this will be the answer to our internet problem in Yendi.  Currently we are running off of the cell phone towers and the internet service is so slow and sometimes non-existent.  At times it takes several hours to send out the Yendi Notes.  Supposedly with this new system we will be able to hook up multiple devices at one time and get better speeds.  I have no idea how all this works but I don’t really care to know the ends and out as long as it works.  There is no physical office in Ghana for Star Link which is a little disconcerting!   There are just vendors that sell the kits; how strange does that sound?  The kits are supposed to be plug and play.

We are tired so I will close for now.  Take care and continue to pray for us as we travel the next few days.

In HIS Service,

Steve and Kandie
