Have I got a nasty, gross story for you! This morning Steve went to the garage to check the fluids on the truck before we headed to Tamale; he said that he smelled something awful and he noticed flies buzzing around the good van. When he opened the door the smell almost knocked him over! Somehow a cat had gotten inside the van and could not get out and died! She did not die before she urinated on the seats. The seats are upholstered material. Steve had to get a shovel to remove the cat! Tomorrow we will clean the van as best as we can and sit it out in the sun. Sunlight and ultraviolet rays will go a long way in removing odors. We have a long trip to make in the van in 2 weeks when our grandson and son-in-law come. I sure hope the smell is gone by then!
We do not have cats for pets. A while ago a feral stray cat came slinking around. Then we noticed that the cat was hanging around and that the watch men had been feeding it. We told them not to feed the cat but they did not listen. We have found food that was left out for them. This morning we saw 4 adult cats running for cover in the garage. They must be sleeping in the garage; probably on the vehicles. A couple years ago something got inside the green truck and died; we could not stand to drive it for months. Every time we turned on the air conditioner we would have to roll down the windows. Now we are wondering if it too was a kitten. They can squeeze into the smallest places.
We went to Tamale to go to the bank. We were disappointed that we could not pick up all the money we wanted because the wire transfer had not come through yet. We also went to the Registrar General’s office to see if the paperwork was ready; it was not. While we were there we discovered the signature stamps we had made a couple weeks ago were melting. We figure that when they were mounted to the stamp base they used glue that was not compatible with the rubber. It is a good thing that the paperwork was not ready for signatures.
When we got back to Yendi we went to the market and bought vegetables. Mr. Oldman, our neighbor, called this morning and he has a friend that needs work. He needs the money to be able to buy seeds for his farm. We told him we would hire him tomorrow when the tree cutter comes back to trim up the small mango trees. He can cut the branches once they are on the ground; it will save Steve and me a lot of work.
Take care and have a good day! Aaron, our son that had back surgery went back to the doctor for his 2 week check up and the doctor said everything looked good!
In His service,
Steve and Kandie
