We had planned on leaving this morning at 8am but it was 8:20 when Timothy arrived. I suspected something must have gone wrong and I was right. Timothy said one of his brother’s children had gotten a snake bite and they were getting the ASV (Anti-Snake Venom) for the child. Timothy said the 8 year old was following his mother in the farm when the snake got him. The mother may have stirred the snake and the child paid the price. Timothy’s family was already financially tapped out due to the death of Timothy’s brother last week so we gave him the money to pay for the ASV. He was very grateful and we are grateful to our supporters who make it possible for us to help.

It was around 10am when we arrived at the village of Kapande located in the Nanumba North District. This congregation was on the schedule to visit last week but we were unable due to the death of Timothy’s brother.  The congregation had the grounds neatly cleaned meaning they had removed all the grasses leaving bare ground.  We had not visited this congregation since we have been distributing the metal communion tables. They were happy to get their table today along with the other usual gifts.

I was asked to speak on the subject about “How the congregation can help the church leaders”.  I mentioned how a good church leader conducts himself inside the church as well as outside in the community.  If the congregation finds the man to be a good worker they can help him work his farm or provide small money to help him do the Lord’s work. I also encouraged all the men of the Church to strive to use their God given talents for the building up of the congregation. I also advised them that if a man is not a good leader meaning he is lazy and not doing the work they are not under any obligation to provide for him.

The question and answer period after services went well. One of the older men requested money to purchase paint to use on their new church building.  I had not purchased any paint since returning to Ghana this time so I called my friend Aminu who sells paint to get the current prices. Since the congregation had done a lot of the work on the building we provided the money for six gallons of emulsion paint and one gallon of oil paint to put on their doors and windows.  They were very pleased!

Before they would let us leave we were provided with a meal consisting of a light soup, Fufu and cooked fowl.  It was delicious! That’s not all; we were also given a large number of yams and a hen as a going away present!  All the men had contributed a yam so we told them how grateful we were for their kindness.

Today, we didn’t have to visit the chief because he was in the assembly.  I still made sure he received his kola (money gift) just to show respect for his office.

At Kulkpeni tonight I taught a lesson from John chapter 12 about Mary anointing Jesus’ feet with the expensive ointment. One brother found it interesting that Mary used her hair to wipe His feet. We all should be so humble as Mary!

Hope you had a great Lord’s Day. May God bless!

In His service,
