Around 8:45 this morning Kandie and I were preparing to leave for the village of Duuni when Timothy Niligrini called. He said he had forgot to bring the bread and juice so if we didn’t have any he would have to turn around and go back to his house. He had already made it to the outskirts of Yendi. I told him to keep coming to the house and we would quickly make some communion bread. At 9am the bread was cut up and cooling so we left for our destination. On the way we stopped to get Timothy some breakfast. While we were waiting for the girl to give Timothy his Bofruit (fried donut type pastry) , Rasheed, the immigration officer we have known for years  came running back to our vehicle on foot to greet us. Rasheed works in Tema or Accra but his family house is here in Yendi.

When we turned off the main road to go to Duuni, Timothy commented that it had rained heavily. We were glad the village got rain. Brother Francis Waja, a church leader, met us when we arrived. There was enough time for us to go see the chief so we did.  There was a lot of time used at the chief’s house because one of the ladies was having some female health issues that needed addressed;  it was time well spent .

Returning to the church building Timothy and I were asked who wanted to teach the bible class and who would preach. I chose the bible class. I discussed the importance of building a strong biblical foundation for the children and the new members.  The church leaders express their concern all the time about the people leaving the Church.  Part of the problem is when they get out into the world they are embarrassed when asked why the church of Christ doesn’t practice things like the denominations; they choke because they lack knowledge of the scriptures.

During the question time we are always asked; “What do you do if there isn’t a Church of Christ in the village you are schooling in or visiting?”  I in turn asked them a question.  “If you travel to a place without your wife is it lawful in God’s eyes to spend the night with another woman?” The answer is always “No”! If the church is the bride of Christ does He want you to go to a different Church which is not His? Then they have an “Ahaa” moment!

Before we left we were given a boat load of yams in appreciation for our visit.  Since our kids are coming this week we divided the yams in half with Timothy which still gave both of us a lot of yams. After arriving back at the house we finalized our schedule for the places we will be going for VBS and preaching while our kids are here.  We will be busier than usual this week! Please keep our three children and our granddaughter in your prayers for a safe, uneventful trip this coming Friday.

Alert!!!!  We just started getting our first significant rain of this year. Praise the Lord!

Hope you are having a good Lord’s Day and are not too sleepy due to the time change.  May God bless.

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
