It has rained most of the day.  We got a serious rain early this morning.  It rained heavily until noon and then it drizzled off and on all afternoon.  We got enough rain that the cistern / reservoir is full and overflowing.  I must say that I personally enjoyed the day off.  When it rains, the workers do not come to work and none of the mothers venture out with their babies.  It was like having a weather day off from school!  I spent the bulk of my day piecing a quilt top.  Fun stuff!  Quilting is my one weakness!

Steve worked on the class lessons again today.  Steve sat at the computer and I sat at the sewing machine and between us we came up with several things that needed to be included in the lessons.

Between rain showers Steve went out and cut some of the bushes around the veranda.  One of them has a fungus which it gets every year during the rainy season.  Steve likes to keep the bushes cut back so that the watchmen can see what is going on in the yard and at the gate.

Dawda, the mason stopped by the mission house between rain showers.  He needed money to fertilize his corn.  He needed to sell more cement blocks and we needed to buy blocks.  So it was a good deal for all of us.  The cement blocks are about the size of our cinder blocks (foundation blocks) only they are solid.

Red also came this afternoon and brought the metal doors and windows we had him make for the church at Borido.  He not only made them but he also spray painted them for us so they are ready for the brothers to pick up on class day.  A couple weeks ago we ordered a couple loads of gravel from Red.  He has been trying to deliver them but it has just been too wet for him to get in to get the gravel.  He does not want to get his dump truck stuck in the mud.  We paid him for the work he did on the doors and windows and he picked up an advance against the gravel.  His daughter Paa Naa is about to graduate from the nurses program and she had a list of things she needed to pay for before they would let her graduate.  She will be sort of like an LPN.

A couple guys brought a set of twins this afternoon.  These twins had lost their mother about 3 months ago.  Their weight was a little low but considering the circumstances they are not in too bad of shape.  Imagine they lost their mother and had to be weaned abruptly and baby food is non-existent in this area.  We gave them weaning mix, vitamins and lots of education as to what the children could eat.  Mr. Iddrisu did not come to work today because of the rain so Red had to interpret for us.  He said that the children could not eat because they had no teeth.  Steve gave them some of the peanut butter sticks (Kulikulee) just to prove they could eat real food.

We appreciate you!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
