I hope you were able to drag yourself out of bed an hour earlier this morning. Lucky for us we are not on any time change. We are just on Ghana Time!

It is raining as I am writing this email.  Halleluiah!!! We got a nice shower about 2 hours ago and the rain has come around again. The smell of rain is in the air.

As we began our 1.5 hour journey to the village at Attado this morning we came upon an accident shortly after leaving Yendi. People were everywhere along the road at the crash site.  It appeared the 25 passenger Mercedes van had rolled over and crushed the roof. An ambulance was leaving as we passed by.  I fear there were some casualties.

Attado is a new location for the older Bagjon congregation. The people moved from the bush out to the main dirt road. Our purpose for visiting them was a request for financial assistance to put a roof on the new mud ball building they had built.  The dimensions of the building are 18’ X 36’ ft. They almost built it too wide for a mud ball structure because the roof can collapse.

Timothy interpreted for me as I used the opportunity to teach the lesson from Matthew 7:24-27 where Jesus uses the example of the wise man and foolish man building their houses. I purposely didn’t speak long.  During the Lord’s Supper a whirlwind came through the grass pavilion we were sitting under. My lips were a little gritty after that episode.

After question and answers we discuss the building project with the men.  They   used cow dung to plaster the outside walls. This plaster protects from rain damage.  The Church plans to reuse the lumber and roofing sheets from the old building to help cut down on the cost. We decided to help financially by matching funds for the lumber and roofing sheets.  It amounted to approximately $400 USD. Due to the increase in fuel cost, building supplies are skyrocketing.  The Church was very thankful for the help. They gave us some guinea eggs and yams which we later gifted to Timothy. The church also provided a meal of rice with oil and hot pepper along with some fish. The rice was nice and Kandie and I gave Timothy our share of the fish. I gave the cook some money for the next time we come to visit. The custom of hospitality here doesn’t allow us to give money for the food so we get around that by giving the cook money for the next time we come.

After saying goodbye we made our way back toward Yendi. On the way  we stopped at the church building  at Nakpa to leave the church’s  account book that Brother Divine dropped by the house the other day.  We also needed to stop and collect the money for a case of grape juice Timothy had sent to the church by messenger some days ago.  It was good to see the men again.  After taking care of business we headed on to Yendi.

Oh, I forgot to tell you the best news of the day!  Five people were baptized by Brother Paul, the church leader at Attado.  Please keep these new Christians in your prayers as we did this morning.

That’s it for today. May God bless and thanks for your prayers and your letters of encouragement.

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
