Our travels today lead us to the village of Nadundo which is southwest of Kulkpeni and back into the bush about 15 miles. We stopped by Timothy’s house to pick him up before traveling on to the village. On the way to the village we picked up 4 women who wanted to go to Nadundo as well. They were going to a funeral.
The Church is still meeting under some mango trees until they get the roof put up on their new building . Trying to get to this place meant I had to drive through tight places in between houses to reach the site. I am always concerned about driving around the houses because it’s customary to bury near the house and I don’t want to cause any controversy driving over a grave. I will have to admit the weather was very comfortable sitting under the trees.
A young man named Paul taught the bible class. He had a good lesson . He asked a question
“ Why do people not practice what they hear from the preacher.” I’m sure Jesus thought the same thing when he was on the earth. For the sermon I taught the same lesson I have been using for the past several weeks about looking around to see what each individual can do at Church or in the community.
After services were over there was a naming ceremony for a baby boy. His English name is Elijah. I felt sorry for his mother because during the ceremony he decided to spit up all over her.
Also after services a father of a young girl wanted to express his gratitude for helping his daughter to get well. This is the 10 year old girl that was from Nadundo who had been admitted to the Yendi Hospital in serious condition that needed a blood transfusion about two weeks ago. Gideon, a church leader from Nadundo, came to the mission house with a family member to beg for financial assistance. The father wanted to meet with us and know more about the Church. The brethren at Nadundo will continue where I left off in discussing the steps of salvation.
A lady asked for prayers because she is having problems going to sleep at night. I suggested the lady buy some “Teedar” . Somehow this antihistamine has been prescribed by some people as a medicine to give toddlers when they are teething. Timothy was quick to ask why give Teedar, because it is for teething children? I explained to him it will help the lady to go to sleep. I know some medicines have several off label uses but all I can figure is the name Teedar made people think “teething”.
We had a short meeting with the men of the congregation about their church building. We had promised to help them with matching funds when they produced their share. Today they pulled out a wad of bills and lots of coins to show us they had tried to do their part. They said due to the early crop failures they were a little short on their funds. We said we would loan them the money until they harvested their crops next year and they agreed. . Three of the men followed us to the compound today to collect the funds. Thanks to all of you who help us make this possible. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to help out as much as we do.
It’s hard to believe another Lord’s Day is over. Please keep us in your prayers as we will do the same for you all. May God bless!
In His service,
