We visited the local church at Kulkpeni today. When we arrived this morning I noticed that I was scheduled to teach the adult bible class. Kandie and I sat in the back row so we could hand out masks. It is still difficult to get people to understand the importance of wearing a mask.
Timothy Niligrini, the main evangelist that I work with, said the congregation had decided to spend some time studying about marriage and living the Christian life. Boy, I was happy to hear that! I jumped on the subject of marriage using Ephesians 5: 25-33. This is the Apostle Paul’s instructions how a husband and wife are to treat and love each other as Christ loves the Church. For those not aware of the culture here, outside the church, it is permissible for a husband to beat his wife if she is misbehaving according to the husband’s thinking. Strangely enough I have never heard that the wife can do the same to the husband. Hmmmmm, that just doesn’t sound fair does it? I am sure you already know this subject made for some lively discussion. After speaking for 20 minutes I opened up the class for questions. The questions lasted for 40 minutes more and I had to stop taking questions because I felt sorry that I had taken so much time. Most of the people didn’t mind the overtime because they were enjoying themselves.
After services Tichak, a church member and one of our night watchmen asked us to inspect the window and door frames of the small houses that we have built on the church property for use during the yearly seminar. The frames are made of wood and the termites have done their worst to destroy them. We will take a measuring tape out with us some day and get the measurements and have metal doors and windows to replace the wooden ones.
Kandie and I also talked with Timothy for an additional 45 minutes about some business matters that had to be addressed. Before we left Timothy’s house we presented him with a 20 bag of onions that we had purchased for gifts for the workers. That brought a smile because everybody loves onions in their stew or soup.
Later this afternoon we had two visitors come at different times. The first man had visited us yesterday so we had asked him to come today for a follow up meeting. The second man who came helps us to get our vehicle licenses renewed.
That just about does it for today. Thank you so much for your concern for the work here and following everyday life. Have a great Lord’s Day and may God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
