Steve had to go back to the tax office again this morning; this time because the new watchman, Kwabena, did not have the same phone number as he had when he signed up for his Ghana Card (national identity card).  Before Steve could proceed with trying to file his annual returns he had to get the tax office to edit Kwabena’s information.  The tax officer wanted to know why we had not already filed all the other employees.  We wanted to file them all on the same day so we could keep track of what was what but the tax offices network was down most of the day yesterday and it has been down all day today.  We are hopeful that this evening after everyone leaves the office we will be able to get on the network.  Sometimes it is down for days.

Red came to the mission house this afternoon; he said he had bought all the parts and had finished mounting the motor and had everything ready for us to start using it.  He wanted to use the truck to bring it out to the house.  I told him that I had one more thing that he had to do before it would be ready to use.  I explained that we needed a drawer / shelf to slide under the roaster when we wanted to off load the corn to keep the corn from falling in the ashes.  We gave him the money for the materials; he was going to start working on it right away.  He also finished making the doors and windows for the church at Yowando and the shelving unit for the mission house storeroom.  He said that he would spray them all on the same day.  They looked good, the church will be proud of the doors and windows.

We hardly had any mothers come to the Center this morning.  These women are exhausted!  They have to get up at 3:30 in the mornings so they can start a fire and prepare something for the family to eat before the sun comes up and then they fast all day.  Almost all the mothers that come to the Child Center are breastfeeding; can you imagine?  I have said it many times before and I will say it again, “I am so proud that I was not born a Ghanaian woman!”

There was lots thunder and lightning last night but we did not get even a drop of rain but someone did because it was cooler today the high today was only 102 degrees with a heat index of 108 degrees.  Our Ghanaian friends were talking about how nice the weather was today but it was still hot!

Thank you for your help and your prayers; we really appreciate all you do.

In HIS Service,

Steve and Kandie
