We got up early this morning so we could be at the bank shortly after it opened. We need money to continue to operate the Child Center. We felt certain that the wire transfer would have come through; it has been a week since it was sent. We were surprised when the teller told us that it had not come through. We asked him to check to see if it was pending. He said it was not but he would check further. Fortunately the bank was not busy this morning. He then called Ms. Lydia, our advocate for the bank; she said the transfer had come in but that our account had been locked because they needed some sort of form signed before it could be unlocked and the money released to our account. Please! How annoying is that? We told the bank teller and manager that we had already filled out and submitted all the forms that had been requested in January over the internet straight to Ms. Lydia after several phone calls. They told us that Ms. Lydia was going to send the 13 page form that needed to be filled out, signed and returned. Steve called Ms. Lydia and reminded her that we had already sent a bunch of forms and asked why she had not alerted us instead of locking the account. She said that she only remembers that the form needs to be submitted when she see a wire transfer come through! She went on to say that the last time he had been sick with the Covid virus so she did not want to bother him. What in the world. She told Steve that we could fill out the form and give it to the bank manager to fax to her but we would not get the money today; she could not guarantee when we would get the money! We tried to fill out the form but we did not have the tax identification numbers that we needed to complete it. We left the bank then went back to withdrawal the small amount of money that was left in the account just to tide us over until next week when we got into the bank the manager told us that he had talked to Ms. Lydia and she found the documents that we sent her in January so there was no need for us to fill out additional forms and that she would work on getting the account unlocked. Can you feel our aggregation? The teller gave us his contact number so we can call and see if the money has been released before we make a trip to Tamale. We had enough foresight to bring dollars with us to Tamale so we went to the Foreign exchange Bureau and changed dollars into Cedis; now we have money to work with.
Nazo, the day man came back to work today. We were proud to see him! Zorash said that she needed some extra work so she came and cleaned the Child Center and mopped the floors; it looks like we are ready to open the doors on Monday! This afternoon we ordered the meds that we will need when we reopen.
We have a special request; please pray for our brother-in-law Charlie Letson’s family. Charlie’s sister has been in and out of the hospital since December with Covid related problems. The hospital told the family to come see her because she was gravely ill. Please pray for the family during this terrible time.
Thank you for all you do!
In His service,
Steve and Kandie
