We had Nazo spray the property around the mission house this morning. This is part of the area that we sprayed several weeks ago when we had so much trouble with the big fruit tree sprayer. The rains have caused the seeds to germinate again. This time we used both the herbicide and a pre-emergent. We are hopeful that this combination will give longer control over the weeds. When we went to the chemical shop this morning to buy the spray Steve found Paraquat. He was very excited because he said that it would kill almost anything and since we want to get rid of all the weeds he thinks this is a good choice. We also bought a small round hand pump sprayer which will be perfect for spraying for mosquitoes. Steve is outside right now spraying for mosquitoes. We were surprised that the chemical seller also had industrial rubber gloves and rain coats. We bought some for the watchmen, and Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu. We bought gloves and rain coats especially for when they are spraying the herbicide. We tried to get Nazo to wear his today but he is too stubborn! He said that it would make him too hot. At least he wore a mask, rubber gloves and rubber boots. He said that he does not fear the spray! You just can’t help some people!
Today was Mr. Iddrisu’s day off. He came to the mission house because he needed to pick up a few extra days of work so he could buy peanut seeds to plant in the back field. We are not sure how he is going to work on his off days and still plant.
Steve spent part of the day working on the payroll packets for the employees and part of the day editing his lessons.
We did not realize that today was Yendi’s big market day until we went to town and that the town was filled to overflowing with people. We went to town to buy chalk. Steve likes to give chalk to the churches as one of their gifts when we go to visit them.
When we stopped to get a barbecued guinea fowl for supper we parked near a vendor that was selling used bedding. I spied a comforter/ bedspread type item that had the most gorgeous beaded lace and ribbon trim. I dickered over the price and bought it for about 8 dollars. We do not need a comforter! I plan on reclaiming the lace for another project. The lace is 14 inches wide and the comforter for a queen bed. Can you imagine how many yards of lace I will have when it is removed? Guaranteed more than 8 dollars worth!
Take care and have a wonderful day.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
