Steve unboxed the Star Link system today; he has been working diligently to get everything set up before it can be activated. We were able to get a good enough internet connection to read a little more about the best installation methods. A few years ago we had Red make a set of metal stairs leading to the flat porch roof. There is a clear view of the sky from the top of the porch. Steve is a little worried that it will not be high enough if he mounts it on the roof so he called Red. Red is going to build a small tower to mount it on. The tower will then be put up on the porch roof. Red said he would start building it tomorrow. We live in the land of cement and tin; both materials make it difficult for WiFi signals to pass through. The mission house is totally made of cement blocks and all the walls are cement blocks too; the roof is metal. Steve built a shelf for the router and mounted above the window leading from the porch into the house. It is right beside a set of double doors which should help. In one of the posts we read on-line someone said that you could boost the signal with aluminum foil. We may be adding sheets of aluminum foil to our décor! Ha! We cannot activate the system until we have everything hooked up and in place. Steve said he wants to buy a voltage regulator to help protect it against the power highs and lows.
Yesterday while we were in the market I bought plastic containers. I have been trying to organize my sewing stuff; my sewing table looks like there was an explosion!
We were surprised to see Mr. Iddrisu at work this morning. This is his day off. He said that he was paying back a day that he took off while we were gone. He is in the process of painting the trim on the mission house. Nothing looks better than a fresh coat of paint! It is oil paint so it is rather stinky!
Donkey knocked on the door around noon and asked permission to leave work early because he had to get a bath so he would be ready to go with the entourage that will be attending the enskinment of a new chief/king in some village. Instead of the chiefs/kings being enthroned they are enskined because they do not sit on thrones; they sit on animal skins. The kings in the middle of Ghana are enstooled because they sit on stools. There are so many variations of customs across Ghana that it is hard to keep up with which tribe does what. Donkey said that he will also be gone tomorrow. I imagine that he will not be back until Monday evening. We are not sure if Donkey has a part to play in this enskinment or not, sometimes he pretends he is pulling a donkey along the parade route hence the reason for his title, “Father Donkey”. I can think of a hundred titles I would rather hold than “Father Donkey”.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support!

The Monkeyshines
Yesterday Mom tried to put a newborn onesie on me but I had grown too long for it not to choke me so she cut it off and made a little shirt for me. She tried a 0-3 month one but it was far too big across the shoulders. I protested about putting on that shirt. Mom finally enlisted the help of Dad! It has been months since I have had to endure the humiliation of wearing clothes! I really like to run free! Oh! The contortions I went through trying to pull that shirt off! Dad was afraid I was going to hurt myself and was in favor of taking it off but Mom won out in the end. She said, “He will get used to it; you can get used to anything!” It did not take long for me to find something to take my mind off of my problems!
This morning Mom took my shirt to the sewing machine and made modifications to it; she tightened up the neck and she took the bulk out of the sides. Dad said that I looked like I was ready to go to Florida; he has been down there fishing.
I barely fought Mom at all this morning when she put the shirt on me. I actually like the shirt; it has footballs and soccer balls all over it. When I saw it this morning I jumped in Mom’s lap! I was just being difficult yesterday. I have figured out that as long as I have a diaper and a shirt on I am going to be out of my cage and in the company of my people! This evening when she took off my diaper and shirt I knew I was headed back to my jail cell!
NO HAWAIIAN FLOWERED SHIRT PLEASE!
Love, Skeeter
