We spent the day in Tamale.  We had business to do and as always in Ghana everything that we do takes longer than we expected.  We finally got the confirmation number from Enterprise, the company that invests part of the workers Social Security.  This is actually the employees’ contribution that we take from their pay each month.  If you can imagine that these companies are investing money; we wonder how all of this will play out when the people actually retire.

While we were at the bank we picked up the payroll that we will leave while we are in the states on our break.  We also stopped by the auditor’s office and we were pleased that he was in his office today.  We worked out the details and paid for this year’s audit.  It is always an ordeal dealing with the accountant because he is an old guy and he enjoys money.  Here in Ghana every company has to do an audit every year; it is more of a formality than anything else.  Now that there is a 50 year lease on the property we also have to do an audit for that too which is very silly since there is no activity going on with the land.  We had to register as a company to be able to get the lease.  While we were with the auditor we went ahead and paid for both audits.  We like the auditor’s secretary; I think he actually does the bulk of the work.

Last time we were in Tamale we tried to find the veterinary shop; we asked several people but no one could understand what we were looking for; of course they gave us directions anyway.  This morning we went back to one of the small shops that sell feed and had the guy write down the area, the landmark, and the name of the shop.  After showing the paper to several people we actually found the place in the belly of Tamale, in a very old section that Steve could not navigate the truck through so I got out and walked to the place.  It was actually a very nice shop; hopefully we can find it again when we need it.

We stopped at Kentucky Fried Chicken for Lupper; that meal between lunch and supper.  At least I did not have to cook supper tonight.  We got back to the mission house at 4:00.   We had time to unload the car and take a little rest before heading out to Kulkpeni for Bible study.

The roofers had gone home for the day but Abochi called Steve this evening and told him that they would put the facial boards on first thing in the morning but they would not be in the way of the masons.

Please keep us and the work in your prayers.

In HIS Service,

Steve and Kandie
