The electricity is still driving us crazy.  The brown outs are terrible; they are off and on all day and night.  We have had to run the generator for as many as 16 hours a day which is very costly.  The generator is wonderful but it is far more expensive than the city electricity.  The electric company told Steve that the new road that is going to be constructed through Yendi will make them have to move the poles with the transformer so they decided to go ahead and set the new transformer in its permanent place rather than fixing the old one and then in a few weeks having to move it.  It makes sense but while they are setting the new poles and pulling wire the transformer is not getting repaired or replaced.  It does make us happy to see the electrical truck in our neighborhood!

Dawda, the mason has been worrying us about getting started on the new structure that we are going to build on the back end of the property but it keeps raining.  We want the rain so we are not complaining; Dawda wants to get started because he needs the money.  The ground is too soft and the water tanker cannot get to the water containers without getting stuck.  It is no fun to dig out a big truck that is buried up to his axles!

We woke to the sound of rain this morning and the temperature was 69 degrees.  Don’t you know the folks around here were freezing.  We had a very comfortable walk and did not even break a sweat; it was wonderful!  While we were walking we noticed the school children were wearing their coats and sweaters and many of the men that were riding motorcycles had on hooded winter coats!  It was bitterly cold!  Actually temperatures below 70 are very unusual for us.

Nazo did not come to work today.  We figure he is busy at the palace, today is the day they say good-bye to the Damba festival and the king will send delegates around to all the important visitors that helped celebrate the festival.  Nazo is one of the Chief’s messengers so he probably had to go somewhere.

Steve trimmed some of the bushes and trees that are in the compound.  He wanted to get them trimmed before the rain completely stops so they will have a little bit of time to leaf back out before the dry season.  Steve trims and Nazo cleans up behind him; pretty good deal if you ask me!

Faith, our granddaughter, had all 4 of her wisdom teeth removed.  She is feeling better; that is not my idea of a fun way to spend your spring break!

Please keep us in your prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
