The children at Kulkpeni continue to learn the apostles.  Tonight they learned about the eighth apostle.  They are doing very well.  Even Timothy’s little girl Dinah is able to repeat a couple of the apostles.  Getting chewing gum and lolly pops make the learning more exciting.  Timothy said that Dinah , who is only 3 years old, thinks that Steve’s name is John.  He said that when she sees them getting ready to come to Bible class she says, “Hurry, Hurry, go see John!”

Nazo sprayed the yard for weeds this morning.  He is not selective when he sprays; he has a knapsack sprayer and he walks as fast as he can and keeps pumping as he goes.  He sprays everything in his path, even the gravel and places where nothing is growing.

Mr. Iddrisu finished shucking his corn around noon today and borrowed the motor king to convey the corn to his house where they will sit in the evenings and shell it.  It will be his wife’s job to put the corn out in the sun every morning and bring it in every evening until it is dry enough to store.  I sure am proud that I was not born a Ghanaian woman!

As soon as we finished our walk this morning we started making the sulfur butter for the Child Center.  The base of the sulfur butter is Shea butter.  The Shea butter smells nice but after the sulfur is added it smells like rotten eggs.   I sure would not like smearing that on my baby but the mothers love it.

Amama came to work late this morning because she had to go to the bus station to pick up a package of agushie seeds (gourd seeds) that her mother had sent to her.  We got the windows in the main part of the house washed this morning and part of the curtains hung.

Steve fought with the battery in the new van most of the afternoon.  We have an appointment on Friday to have the oil changed but when he tried to start it so he could clean it out it would not start!  The battery cables were so corroded that he could not get the bolts to loosen up so he could replace the battery.  He cleaned the poles with vinegar and baking soda.  Finally he got the cable off the terminal and removed the battery from the van.  He still has to get the bolt off the cable so he can tighten the new battery.  He had to quit working on it because it was time to eat and go to Bible class.  He will work on it again tomorrow.

Have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
