I bought three clear plastic tubs a few days ago in the market to put my fabric scraps in.  I wanted to protect them from the dust.  I got all the scraps folded with the help of Amama and put in the tubs when I discovered that the lids did not match the tubs!  How annoying.  There is not really an exchange policy or satisfaction guarantee policies here but I was not happy.  As soon as Zorash got here this morning I told her about my problem.  She said, “Don’t worry, that is the way they sell them.  Even the lid for the water container I bought does not fit.”   I told her that the lady had given me the wrong lids because one of the lids actually fit.  She then said that maybe the lid did not fit because I had over stuffed the container and made the lid not fit.  What!  The lid was almost 2 inches too short for the container.  Amama came to check the tubs.  Amama said, “It is the wrong lid!”  After lunch Zorash went to the market with me and the lady only had one lid that would fit so we changed out the other one for a different brand that had a lid.  While we were there I spied an old red speckled enamel head pan.  It was gorgeous!  I love all things old.  Of course it had been well used; some of the enamel had gotten chipped but I still wanted it.  We asked the lady if she would sell it.  She said it was not for sale but if I would go and buy a new one she would trade me a new one for the old one.  Sounded like a fair exchange.  They sell the new ones right there in the market.  We bought a new one and made the exchange.  We both were very happy with the deal!

When we went for our walk we met Divine; he was headed back to the Zoomlion office about the thrashing machine.  He feels certain that they will come to his village today.

Gomda, the mechanic, came to the mission house.  He brought us a box with small square holes cut in it for air vents.  It was filled with guinea fowls.  He had 4 guinea fowls in the box.  He said that it was a gift to take back to the states to share with Marcus, our son-in-law and family.  Gomda met Marcus last year when Marcus came to help us with the seminar.  They immediately hit it off!  Gomda wanted us to greet the whole family, especially Marcus!  We did not have the heart to tell him that we could not take live birds on the airplane.  We cannot even take meat into the United States.  We made over the gift; took a picture of Gomda giving the guinea fowls to Steve.  Aren’t people sweet?  After he left we shared them with the workers.  They were very happy to get them.  Nazo immediately killed them and Amama put a big pan of water on to boil.  It took longer for the water to come to a boil than it did for the ladies to pluck and clean the birds.

Nazo has been catching rats.  These rats are about the size of a squirrel.  He has caught six so far.  They made a home in the soak away from the septic tank that we dug up and unclogged last year.  Steve jokes with him that he needs to start “Nazo’s Rat Chop Bar”.  A chop bar is what they call small outdoor restaurants.

Have a great day!  Please continue to pray for Roger from Mt. Carmel.
