We are back in Ghana.  We had an uneventful trip which is always a blessing!  All of our luggage arrived with us which is a feat itself considering we had 10 suitcases, bags and tubs which each weighed 50 pounds.  We got through customs without any trouble and this time we did not have to have Covid testing before we entered Ghana, we just had to have proof of being fully vaccinated.

We are not in Yendi yet.  We had to spend an extra day in Accra so we could take care of some business and of course I took advantage of the extra day to do some shopping.  We were so disappointed that the little Chinese grocery store had gone out of business.  That was one of the places I intended to shop.  If we want Chinese noodles, sesame oil, dried mushrooms, light soy sauce and other such ingredients we have to buy them while we are in Accra, the capital city and take them to Yendi in our luggage.  I guess we will just have to do without those things; it will make us enjoy them even more when we get back to the states.

Thursday is the big bead market day in Koforidua; one of the towns up in the mountains outside of Accra.  Today is Thursday so guess where we went?  We hired Bismark to drive us to Koforidua today.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself!  As I was purchasing things I kept reminding Steve that yesterday was Valentine’s Day!  When all was done and said I had a very good Valentine’s Day!  It takes a couple hours to get to Koforidua; it is really not very far but the road is steep and winding and full of potholes.

We got back around 2:00 pm and had enough time to finish our business and change money before it was time for supper.  We ate an early supper because we had to rely on a taxi to take us from place to place and we did not relish the thought of hailing after dark.  Since we are very close to the equator, it starts getting light about 5:30 am and starts getting dark about 5:30 pm.

Accra gets more rain than we do in the Yendi area because they are near the rainforest.  Bismark said that 3 days ago they got a good rain and the farmers here have already started harvesting their first crop of field corn.

Please keep us in your prayers as we continue on to Yendi.

In HIS Service,

Steve and Kandie
