First thing this morning we walked back to the back of the mission property to see what needed to be done before Red brings the load of rough gravel.  We were amazed at how tall the grass had grown; much of it was taller than me.  We could hardly see the piles of sand and stacks of cement blocks.  Mr. Iddrisu asked for extra work so we sent him and Nazo to cut the tall grass around the building site and to cut a road so Red will know here we want to dump the rough gravel.  It took them most of the morning to cut the grass; once the grass has dried a bit they will burn it and kill the short grass.  They will have to be careful when they set fire to the tall grass because Nazo still has field peas that have not been picked and he has not finished picking his corn.  It would be terrible to let the fire get out of hand and burn the food stuffs.

Steve spent a good portion of the morning working on an electrical extension box.  The box is sort of like one of those extension cord bars that have multiple outlets.  The box is about 10 inches square.  After he got the box wired he hung it from the wall; now all the cords are off the floor; it looks so nice!  If we start blowing fuses we will have to have an electrician come and drop another outlet for us.  I am a little concerned about the new sewing machine.  It has a 1/3 horsepower motor and I don’t know how much electricity it will pull.

We did not know that today was Yendi’s big market day until we went to town to buy a plug for the light over my sewing machine and to take the condemned ceiling fan to Mr. Adams; the fix-it man.  He will be able to use it for parts.  He is always happy to get our discarded electrical stuff.  We had not planned on going to the market today but when we realized it was market day we decided to look for vegetables.

When Red found out that we had gone to Tamale yesterday he called and asked us to buy him a jar of Nescafe instant decaffeinated coffee.  He likes decaffeinated coffee and we cannot buy it in Yendi.  He was leaving today to go to Bawku for his nephew’s wedding.  We figured he wanted the coffee to take with him.  He will be gone until early next week.

Thank you so much for all you do for us and for the work here in Ghana; we really appreciate the help.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
