We were seriously understaffed at the Child Center this morning.  Zorash sent us a text to say that she had been at the hospital all night with her sister who was having a baby.   She actually lives in Zabzugu which is a couple hours away from Yendi, they have a hospital in Zabzugu but evidently she was having a difficult delivery so they transferred her to Yendi.  We don’t know all the details but Zorash was organizing the discharge and transport.  Hopefully Zorash will be back at work tomorrow and we will know more.  Mr. Iddrisu called and said that he would not be at work either; he had a PTA meeting to attend.  These meetings go on and on.  Part of the reason they last so long is because they never get started on time.  Donkey’s grandson attends the same school; his grandson is living with him.  I asked Donkey if he was going to the PTA meeting, he said that his wife was going to attend so he could come to work.  Steve was not around this morning either because he needed to attend the continuing education class at the hospital.  That left me and Meri to handle the Child Center by ourselves until Steve got out of class.  I told her that we were praying that no mothers came to the Center this morning!  We had a new set of twins today and 2 children that were underweight for their ages.  We were happy to see Steve walk into the Center!

Divine, the evangelist and guy that is doing the church’s paperwork stopped by for a visit this afternoon.  He wanted to let us know that the Ghana school board had sent some auditors around to various schools to assess their needs.  Divine opened a school in his village several years ago.  He is confident that those who did the assessment will recommend their school for some improvements.  Divine really wants to get the “school feed” program functioning again in his village.  He says that the children attend so much better when they know that they will get something to eat.  Part of the criteria for getting help is having a plot of land for the School board to develop.  Divine has that one covered; the chief has already allocated a large piece of land for the school.

It is raining right now; it has not rained for the past 2 days and we were beginning to wonder if the dry season is upon us.  We really need another few weeks of rain so the late crops will have time to mature.  The rain is a pleasant sound!

Thank you for the love, prayers and support!

Mom forgot to acknowledge my presence at the Child Center this morning!  She made it sound like only she and Meri were working.  I was there too!  I did my part of looking cute and entertaining the Mom’s that came in with their babies.  The older children really like looking at me; I don’t like kids much!  They make too much noise!   Mom told several of the other mothers that I was an orphan!  Someone forgot to tell me I was adopted!  I thought Mom and Dad were my real parents.  Come to think of it, they do not look anything like me; well, Mom is trying to get that unibrow thing going on!   They do dress funny and always smell like deodorant!  I love them anyway; they are keepers!

This morning Mom tied me so that I could go out of the Child Center and play in the yard.  I love to pick up small stones and fill my cheek pouches with them.  I carry them back inside with me and then leave them on the floor.  I entertained myself for a long time this morning hunting for stones.  Mom doesn’t really like me putting stones in my mouth; she says that is a good way for me to get sick and get worms.  Really I have never seen any worms on the stones I pick up!

Thankfully I was adopted!
