There is not much to report today! We spent the day in Tamale. We went so we could turn in the Social Welfare report for the Child Center’s license renewal. We have worked so hard gathering the information and documents for that report; we even went last month and talked to the Social Welfare officer to make sure there were no new changes this year. We thought that it was going to be a fairly simple process; get the report bound, go to the bank and get the bank draft to pay for it and drop it off at the office. All went well until we dropped it off at the office; when the officer looked over our documents she said that we had not included the BO-1 and BO-2 for the company! What? Steve said that we were not aware that they had to be included. She asked if we presented them in the report last year; we had not. The Social Welfare Department includes a very detailed 2 page list of requirements; the BO-1 and BO-2 are not mentioned on the list. The Social Welfare Officer said that they were not on the list but they were still required. How in the world are we supposed to know that? The report could not be submitted without them. We thought that we were going to have to go back to Yendi, get the documents and go back to Tamale tomorrow when Steve had an idea. He said that there was a very good possibility that the auditor had a copy of them in our file. We rushed over to the auditor’s office and met the secretary as he was leaving the building. He said there was a copy in our file but he did not have time to make a copy of it because he had a meeting to attend. He loaned us the copy so we could make the copies and turn in the report. I love it when a plan comes together!
While we were in Tamale we stopped by the Social Security office to find out about making the payments for the workers contributions for next year. We also did a little shopping. We decided to get a digital scale for the Child Center because the one we are using has a big dial and it is difficult to read it especially for Mr. Iddrisu with his glasses. Meri also cannot figure out how to read it. The only problem we foresee with the digital scale is that when the power is off the scale will be too because it does not have battery backup. We will just keep both scales out so we can use which everyone we need to. The scale we bought has a bed on it; it is actually used for weighing larger items than a baby; it is the type they use at the hospital. Also if we have a baby that is a screamer and refuses to get on the scale we can weigh the mother holding the baby and then just the mother and subtract to get the babies weight.
We left shortly after 7:00 this morning and got back to the mission house at 5:45. It has been a long day and we are tired.
Please keep us in your prayers.

The parents left me again today! I was about to starve when they came home! Luckily, Mom had a bottle already made up in the fridge so all she had to do was warm it up in the microwave. I love the sound of the bell on the microwave because I know when I hear the bell the food is ready! Mom fed me before she helped Dad unload the truck! See, someone loves me!
I got good news when they came home today! They stopped by the Vet in Tamale to cross check to see how much dewormer I am supposed to have. The Vet said that the tech in Yendi was mistaken and that I was only to be de-wormed every 3 months. That is still a lot of medicine but it is better than two types of dewormer every month!
They bought me a new stuffed toy while they were in Tamale. They buy me these toys because they think that if I get a new toy I will not remember that they left me alone! Well, they are wrong! My affections cannot be bought! I decided that I was going to be afraid of the new toy. It is a blue seahorse. What in the world! I would not have known what it was if Mom had not told me. It is kind of cute but I was having nothing to do with it. Mom finally put it back in the bag and put it up on the shelf which was fine with me.
To add insult to injury, it rained today while I was here alone! But guess where I was during the rain? I was inside the new little water proof house that they made for me. It was wonderful! When they got me out of the cage I was totally dry! Of course the cage did not protect my ears from the thunder but at least I was not cold and shivery! Mom was so happy when she saw me using the new house!
I am starving!
Love, Skeeter
