We are back in Yendi.  It took the mechanics at Japan motors 3 ½ hours to change the oil.  They really wanted to wash the van and clean the outside; it is part of the changing oil package but we did not have time to wait for that “perk”.  We told them that we didn’t care if the van was dirty because it was going to rain anyway and it would be dirty before we got back to Yendi.

While we were waiting on them to change the oil we ran a few errands.  We walked several miles today because it was easier to just walk from place to place rather than flag down a “Yellow Yellow” (3 wheeled vehicle that is used for transporting people from place to place, sort of like a very small taxi).  We bought some plumbing supplies and a new security light to hang on the garage.  We stopped at the cultural center so I could buy white cotton fabric for the quilt I am working on.  It is the fabric that the ladies use to make batik fabric and tie-dye fabric.  It is so cheap that I think I might buy a bolt to take home; it would be great for embroidered dish towels.  We also stopped and bought a wheelchair for the elderly church member at Duuni who has lost the use of his legs and has no means of getting around.

While we were riding around I spied a place that was selling used sewing machines.  I found one that I might like but since it is used there are no guarantees and no way of getting a manual.  The machines are seriously old; I would say that they are 30-40 years old; parts would be a problem too but the prices are right.   I told the guy I would think about it.  Then I called our son Aaron and had him look them up online to see if he could get a manual but he did not have any luck.

We stopped and got lunch before we headed back to Yendi.  When we arrived in Yendi we called Red and ordered a couple of metal windows for the church at Kpanjamba that we visited on Sunday.  Red said that he would have them done in a couple days.  So we can get them painted before the monthly evangelist / church leaders’ class.

Thank you for all the prayers!  We love you guys!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
