We went to town this morning to buy light bulbs and a few groceries.  We were rather annoyed when we went in the little store beside the hospital and saw that they had baby formula on their shelves, the same brand that we use in the Child Center.  Steve asked them when they got their formula; they said they got it a couple days ago.  We are still waiting on the 30 cases that we ordered from the Nestles Company.  Steve sent the Nestles’ contact person a message and asked where ours was.  He told them that it was in Yendi.  He has not heard back from them yet; hopefully ours will come in a few days.  We are not desperate; it is just the principle of the thing.

Donkey’s wife Amina is sick; she has some sort of upper respiratory problem; yesterday he asked if he could work his 2 holidays to make some extra money to buy medicine for her.  When we asked how she was doing today he said that he thought she was a little better.  She also has high blood pressure.  We were happy to see that while he was at the pharmacy he bought her blood pressure medicine; he told us a couple weeks ago that he was going to take her to the same traditional healer that he took Zimblim to for his broken arm to have her blood pressure treated.  The healer treats blood pressure with the inside of the dried mango seeds that have been pulverized.  We are happy that he has not taken the traditional healer route yet.

Some old person in Mr. Iddrisu’s family died and they were performing the last day of the funeral rites today; yesterday and today the air was filled with the sound of gun shots.  When there is a funeral they shoot guns that only contain blanks.  I guess to them it is like the military salutes that we do for our veterans.  They will also have lots of drumming and dancing; there is so much noise at the funeral grounds that it is difficult to hear what anyone is saying!

This afternoon the bathroom flooded.  What a waste of water!  While we were in town we bought a 50 pound bag of laundry detergent.  We always keep it in the bathroom.  Steve set it in the bathroom on the bidet; it fell off and somehow turned the water on in the bidet.  We had no idea; when we were cleaning up the lunch dishes Steve was met with water running out of the bathroom!  It took a while to get all the water sopped up!  At least now the bathroom floor is cleaned and mopped!  After we got the mess cleaned up we had to wash the towels that had fallen in the water and those that we used to catch the water.

I spent a good portion of the day sorting through the Ghanaian proverbs that I have collected over the years.  I am in the process of making a proverb quilt.  Not sure how it will turn out but at least it keeps me busy!  Ha!

Take care and please keep us in your prayers.

The Monkeyshines

Dad’s cold is much better; did you know that monkeys can catch colds too?  I am not sure if they can get people colds but I have had one before; my nose ran and I had no way of blowing it because monkeys don’t know how to blow their noses; we can cough and we can sneeze but blowing my nose is just not one of my talents!  I said all that to say, I sure hope that Dad does not give me his cold!

I missed out on all the fun this afternoon!  You know I would have delighted in jumping around in all that water!  I am sure that I could have been helpful in so many ways!

This afternoon Dad got out the power sprayer and cleaned my jail cell!  It looks much nicer and it even smells nice!  I was outside running free while Dad was running the sprayer.  Dad thought that I would be afraid of the sprayer but that thing can’t catch me!  I can climb higher in the trees than that thing can reach!

Dad hung the towels on the line and he did such a good job of hanging them that I could not get them off.  The towels were draped over the clothes line and 4 or 5 clothes pens were on each towel!  Now how am I supposed to compete with that system?  It is not fair, I tell you it just isn’t fair!  Dad spoiled all my fun!   Well, almost; did you know that when I jump on the clean clothes I leave little tiny hand and feet prints?

Now who has the last laugh?
