We arrived safely in Accra last night.  We are always excited when we see that all of our luggage arrived on the same plane with us.  This time we checked 11 pieces of luggage; all weighing 50 pounds each.  We each had a full sized carry on, Steve had his backpack, I had a bag and Steve had his C-Pap bag.  When we check in at the airport in Huntsville they almost always ask if there are other people traveling with us because of the amount of luggage we are taking.  The luggage filled the entire back of our son, Aaron’s full sized pick-up; the carry- ons rode inside with us.  The customs officers did not open any of our bags after they read the letter and found out that most of the items were for the Child Center.

This morning we went to the immigrations office and picked up our quota papers.  The quota grants us permission to have resident visa status for the next 3 years.  We still have to get our passports stamped and pay the resident visa fees.  Our visa runs out at the beginning of October so we will have to make another trip down to Accra later this month to do that paper work.  Fun stuff!

After we finished at the immigration office Steve took me shopping!  I do love to shop!  We hired a taxi for 5 hours so we did not have to keep hailing taxis.  This also gave us a place to put the things we bought so we did not have to haul them around from place to place.  It was sort of like having our own private car.

There is a Chinese supermarket in Osu, Accra.  We had the taxi stop there so we could buy some condiments and specialty items that we are not able to get in Tamale.

Steve talked to Timothy, the evangelist, to try to make plans as to which church we will be visiting on Sunday.  We also talked to Red, the driver, to make sure that he would be at the airport in Tamale tomorrow when we arrive.

Thank you for all your prayers.  Thank you for all you do for us and for the work.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
