The goat is still with us.  We were hopeful that her diarrhea would be fatal but alas she is still alive.  This afternoon she was on the veranda looking in the living room!  So annoying!

This morning Zorash came to work to make up one of her days and Papa Zachariah was working in the front field.  We decided that while they were here we would go to visit the Balogu chief and see if we could get Osmon, the chief’s secretary, to pay us the money that he borrowed 2 ½ years ago.  Osmon was at the chief’s palace.  He offered several excuses as to why he had not paid back the money.  He said that the truck that was hauling his yams to Accra wrecked and the hot weather caused the yams to rot, then he said he had not been well and had doctor bills.  The last time we asked for our money he said that the bank that was holding the money closed so he lost all his money.  He begged us to be patient; as if waiting 2 ½ years is not being patient!  He said to give him 1 more month and he would pay us something.  Not all but something!  Really at this point we don’t care if he pays us a little every month.

The brake shoe on the green truck came unglued and was just flopping around.  Steve could hear a scratching sound but was not sure what it was; at first he thought it was the power steering.  Gomda the mechanic fixed the problem and also replaced a hose of some sort.  The truck should be ready to take to the bush tomorrow.  Fortunately we are not going very far away so we have time to try it out to make sure that it is working well.

Steve also bought another car battery while he was in town; the old van does not want to start.  Steve thinks there is a short in the system.  He does not have the means of running down the fault so he will take the old van in one day next week.

The man from the Registrar General’s office that is helping us with the land papers for the property lost his father last Tuesday; it appears that he will not be in the office until they finish the final funeral which will be 40 days from the time the man died.  Now how would you like to have that grieving plan at your place of work?  Not sure if it is because he is a Muslim or if it is because of traditional beliefs or a combination of both.  Whatever be the case we will not be getting anything done any time soon.

Thank you for all the love, prayers and support!  Try to stay “Covid Free”!  It sounds like it is everywhere!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
