We spent the night last night in Tamale so it would be easier for us to be at the bank as soon as it opened this morning. The banks open at 8:30. It was time to renew our Non-Citizen cards. The Non-citizen card has to be valid in order to cash a check. This is something new that the government has implemented. We have been renewing it every year since 2017. Every year we ask if we can renew it for more than one year; every year they tell us no; once again this year when we ask the bank teller if we could renew for multiple years we were told no but when we went upstairs to actually fill out the forms and get the renewal we were told that we could renew for up to 5 years as long as we had enough money to pay for all the years. We were very excited but then we were told that we would have to wait until next year to do it because we had already paid for one year; the multiple years have to be all paid for at the time of the transaction. Please! We told the officer that we asked before we paid and were told no. He said the tellers must not be aware of the new changes so he went downstairs and told them which did not help us but next year we will know.
After we finished at that bank we went to the bank where the Child Center has its account and withdrew the payroll for the next few months.
We only had 3 things that HAD to be done today; our last thing was at the Enterprise office. We finally got all the forms they required with the Ghana Card numbers and beneficiaries filled out and ready to turn in with the exception of Kwabena the new night watchman. Steve sent Enterprise an email last week requesting an ID number for Kwabena but only got a confirmation but not an actual number. We had to wait around in the office for over an hour this morning for them to generate the number. We also wanted to pay his contribution for the next 4 months but we were told that it takes 48 hours to generate the code we need to be able to go to the bank and make the payment; we will have to go back to Tamale when the code comes through. Lucky us!
We did find a few more of the brooms/ rakes that Donkey likes. Mr. Iddrisu called us this morning and said that he had pulled the last 2 cases of formula and taken them to the Child Center. As we were driving around Steve spied a Nestle’s warehouse; the company that we buy formula from so we stopped to see if they would sell to an individual. We were happy when they said yes we could buy from them and they provided us with the proper tax receipt!
Steve is still feeling poorly; he still has stomach distress. He finally broke down and took Flagyl; he took the one that is a single dose. He hates Flagyl and the thought of taking it for 5 or 6 days just puts him off but a single dose is doable. He drove us back to Yendi but as soon as he got in the house he took a nap.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support.
In HIS Service,
Steve and Kandie
