The electricity was off most of the day yesterday and all night! Donkey said that the electricity was off in the whole town. He said that the only places he saw with electricity were those that had generators. It is 6:00pm so we presume that it will be off again all night. Steve went to town this morning and bought extra diesel for the generator and diesel for the truck we will be driving tomorrow to worship with the brothers at Duuni. Steve said that he was going to have to change the oil in the generator after all these hours of use.
One of the legs on the church’s sign board at Borido broke off because of the strong winds that came with a recent rain storm. When we were there with Marcus and Evan we picked up the sign board to have it repaired. It needed a fresh coat of paint so Steve took it to the sign painter yesterday. He said that it would be ready to be picked up today; we thought that was not really possible but Steve went to the shop late this afternoon to check; it was another of those “go and come” deals! I called Red to see if he was at his house so we could bring him the sign board frame so he could weld a new leg on it but he was not at home. We will get it to him tomorrow; Steve wants to have it finished on the monthly class day next week. It will save us some transport money if we send it home with Foster, the church leader.
Mr. Oldman stopped by this morning. He needed to charge his cell phone. He stayed for a little while and visited with Steve and the workers. If the electricity continues to be out we will have more people needing to charge. Steve said that when he was out and about this afternoon buying paint he went by the substation and there were men there working on something.
Since we had nothing pressing on our schedule I was able to spend the bulk of the day sewing; which was great fun for me! This quilt top is covered with Ghanaian proverbs that I have collected through the years.
The new tailgate for the truck has a decal on it that says, “SNIFF MY DIFF” not sure what that means; I couldn’t take it so it had to go! It was not too hard to get it off but it was discolored underneath; I guess it had been on there a long time. It has another one that has something to do with a fishing tournament which is going to be hard to get off; if anyone has any hints for how to remove it please let me know.
Steve’s cold is better but he gave it to me! Aren’t I the lucky one?
Take care and enjoy your weekend!

Mom gave me a ketchup pouch; it still had the ketchup in it. I thought I had found a real treasure. As soon as I got it I jumped on the little white fence and then up into the big mango tree. I wanted to make sure that I got far, far away from Mom. You know she is a snatch and grab type lady! She will have something snatched away from me before I have a chance to see her coming! Before she gave it to me she tore a small slit in it so I could get a little of the ketchup. It was yummy!
Mom put this stuffed seahorse on a long shoe string for me to play with; she then attached the shoe string to a small plastic basket that was on a ribbon. She attached the ribbon to the book shelf which is screwed down to her sewing table. This afternoon I got the shoe string tangled around my leash; I seriously thought that sea horse was alive and was going to eat me! I fought that thing for at least 20 minutes before Mom realized I was not playing with it but I was trying to get away from it. It was attached to me so every time I jumped on the bed it jumped with me; when I was on the floor it was chasing me! It was not a fun game at all! I was so happy when Mom untangled me and I was free of that parasite! I really got a workout today trying to get away!
I can’t wait for the parents to go back to Kentucky Fried Chicken and get me another Ketchup packet!
Love, Skeeter
