We got to the hospital that is doing the Covid testing this morning ½ hour before they were supposed to open and there were already 35 people in line ahead of us.  They had a pretty nice setup.  They gave us a number and told us to wait under a tent until our number was called.  The seats were spaced out which made us feel better about sitting in the group that needed testing.  I kept telling myself that surely most of these people needed the test because they were flying and not because they were sick.  We were there for a couple hours.  When the man came out to take our information and ID’s we found out that if we wanted to pay an expedited fee we could get the results as early as this afternoon.  That option was too expensive for me but we did opt to pay 20 dollars more each and get the results tomorrow instead of waiting until Monday; the day we fly.  Had we known we could get the test results in 24 hours we would not have had to come to Accra so early.  We thought that it would be less stressful for us if we got them tomorrow.  After or initial information was taken we waited a while longer then went into a room which thankfully was air conditioned; filled out additional paperwork and paid.  We then went outside again and waited to be called into the specimen room.  We thought that they would take a nasal swab like they have the other 3 times we have had the test but this time they took a throat swab.  After that we were given our receipt and were free to leave.

Steve was surprised when I told him that when we finished I wanted to go to the culture center / carvers and do some shopping.  What did he think that he was going to be able to bring me to Accra and not take me shopping?  We had the place pretty much to ourselves; which is good for me and my bargaining!  If there are lots of expatriates at the carvers they ruin the market for me because they do not know how to bargain and pay the first price!  It did not take me long to get what I needed to finish filling my suitcases.  It would be a shame to bring back half empty suitcases!

We have been struggling to get the outdoor toilet man to finish the toilets at Kulkpeni for Timothy and Tichak.  He has made a couple draws on the amount that we owe for the toilets.  Steve called him several times this week; he told the man that we would not pay the remainder until the jobs were totally finished.  Thursday evening the night before we left to come to Accra the guy called and said that he was going to bring the receipts and pick up the balance.  We had already talked to Timothy and we knew the job was not finished.  Steve told him he would leave the money with Mr. Iddrisu but it would not be released until we heard that the job was finished.  When Tichak, the watchman, came to work he said that the builder had come to his house and asked him to call us and tell us the work was finished so he could get the rest of the money.  Tichak said he was annoyed and told the man that we were Christians and that we did not behave like that!  Thank you Tichak!  I am afraid the man is going to go out of business if that is how he conducts his business.

Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
