We thought that we were going to start the floor replacement project at Kulkpeni tomorrow but when Steve called Timothy this afternoon he found out that the men had finished chipping the cement out of the floor and had removed it but the ladies had not hauled the water.  Without water we cannot start the project.  We are going to give them a couple days to fetch the water so we will try to start on Saturday.  Dawda told Steve that he thought he could finish the project in one day.  It would be wonderful if he could.  This afternoon we went to the back of the mission property and got the 1×12 boards and head pans out of the storage room.  We loaded them in the truck and took them to Kulkpeni tonight when we went for Bible study.

While we had the storage rooms open we poisoned the ants that are tunneling into the rooms.  We decided it was better to kill them before they damaged the floors.  Mr. Iddrisu was in the back field picking green leaves and hot peppers for his wife to make stew.  He had also picked up a bunch of branches that had fallen out of the trees and had them loaded on the back of his motorcycle.  His wife will be happy to see him coming home this evening.  He said that his son who had trouble with his speech was fine now.

This afternoon Zorash heard from the lady who had the swollen stomach and a serious amount of fluid.  She sent a copy of the list of the medicines that the doctor had prescribed.  Still they have not given her a diagnosis as to what they think is wrong and why she is retaining so much fluid.  She sent a copy of the test that the doctor ordered which included Hepatitis B and C but they did not give her a copy of the results of the test; they said that all of that would go straight from their office to the doctor’s computer.  We encouraged her to try to get a diagnosis.  Maybe she will find out something tomorrow before she comes back to Tamale.

Steve spent part of the day working on the Social Welfare report and gathering documents and writing the letters that they need.  The letters are a bit silly.  He has to write a cover letter asking them to file the report and they said they needed a letter that gave the government permission to do a police background check.  Then of course they need passport pictures (on white backgrounds) and a tax clearance certificate, a copy of the audit we turned into the Registrar General, copies of passports and non-citizen cards and on and on it goes.  All the information and documents have to be collated and put into a booklet and bound with a comb binding (those plastic prongs that are on some cookbooks).

Enjoy your day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie

P.S.  Our sympathy goes out to the family of our dear friend Jane Hogwood.  She was a lovely lady and a faithful supporter of the work in Ghana.  She will be missed.
