This morning Abochi, the roofer, came to the mission house to give us an estimate on replacing the thatch roofs on the little guest house and the office Mr. Iddrisu uses.  The thatches are becoming increasingly hard to find, they are expensive and they only last for about 3 years.  The office roof has started leaking.  We will not replace the roofs until next year during the dry season but we needed to get an estimate so we would know what we were looking at.

Mr. Iddrisu was supposed to come to work to pay back one of the days he took off last week but when he got here this morning he was under the impression that he had already paid back all his days.  He was surprised when I pulled out the calendar we have been keeping track of and showed him which days he was off and how they rolled over to his upcoming off days.  He is using his days off to pay back the loan he took to help with someone’s funeral.  Maybe he will think twice before he puts himself in that position again but we doubt that will happen.

Mr. Adams, the fix-it man, finished changing out the motor on the drill press.  I had originally thought about finding a new home for the drill press and buying a new one for the mission house but once the 220 motor was on the old press Steve decided that he wanted to keep it.  Mr. Adams went above and beyond the call of duty.  Originally the press had no on and off switch; you just plugged it in when you wanted it to run.  Mr. Adams put on a new plug, wire and he added a box to house the wires with a switch.  It is running like a top so I guess for now it will stay with us.  It is old but sometimes the old ones are stronger than the new ones.

Timothy came to the mission house today; he finished translating all 12 of the Lessons on the men and women’s role in the family and the home that Steve wrote last year.  They taught the lessons as they were written.  Now they are in the Konkomba language.  We plan to print and bind the lessons and give a copy to each of the churches to use for class material.  Timothy is so excited about the booklet.  There are 66 pages.  This morning we edited the material; it is very difficult to edit something you cannot read!  Steve started to print them when I noticed that the pages did not match up and there were a few typos on the scriptures.  We will fine tweak the lessons and hopefully get them printed this week.

While we were in town picking up the drill press we stopped and bought fresh baked bread and a roasted guinea fowl.  Steve is in the kitchen making a garlic / herb/ olive oil dip for the bread and cutting up some vegetables.

Have a great Lord’s Day!

I was nervous all morning!  It was the longest morning of my life!  I was in the house with Mom and Dad minding my own business when Timothy came to the door.  They opened the door and let him in!  Imagine that!  Not only did he come in, he came in carrying a case with his computer!  He plopped himself down in a chair right beside Mom!  Imagine the nerve of that guy!  I thought I was going to have a panic attack of some sort!  He was sitting right beside Mom!  Believe me when I say that I was on “High Alert!”  I kept my eyes on him at all times.  I could not even enjoy clearing off the cabinet beside my food dish because I had no idea what he was going to do!  You never can tell with these strangers; they can turn dangerous at any time!  I was so nervous that Dad took me outside so I could play around for a little while and not have to look at Timothy but wouldn’t you know it Timothy had to come outside to use the bathroom and he walked right past me.  I did not mind so much when he came out of the house because I thought that he was leaving but when he came back to the door and tried to go inside the house I had to sound the alert!  I screamed and hollered at the top of my lungs! I lunged at him!  I hung onto the door trying to prevent him from getting back inside where Mom was!  But it was to no avail; he still got in!  Dad decided that I was so upset that I needed to go back to my jail cell for a little time out and to get away from Timothy.  Even though I was in my cage I kept a close eye on the door to the house!  I was so relieved when I saw him get on his motorcycle and drive away!

NO MORE STRANGERS IN MY HOUSE!
