Today we went to visit the congregation at Nalongni. It is south west of Yendi; Timothy didn’t have to ride his motorcycle in to the compound. It has been a while since we had visited this Church. When we arrived we had enough time to visit with the new chief of the village and chit-chat for a few minutes before services started.
Timothy interpreted (as usual) for me as I preached this morning. He and I have been working together as a great team for the past 15 years. I taught how the Church must be able to stand on its own two feet and be independent. The congregation was happy to get the gifts that we presented to them.
After services we had a lengthy question and answer period. Questions concerning how to recognize the New Testament church were asked. The question and answer period ended with a question from a brother who asked us to discuss how to guard against the Covid-19. This is an important question when there isn’t any vaccine available to the general public in the country. It is very hard for the people here to grasp the concept of how disease travels.
Before we left the village we walked over to Joseph Kumasi’s house to see how he is faring. Joseph suffered a stroke several years ago. He can occasionally walk with the help of a stick but he has lost the use of his right arm. His wife presented us with a grocery size bag of peanuts. That was very sweet of her.
On our way back to Timothy’s house we passed through the village of Jagrido. Just outside the village we came up on Timothy’s brother Daniel and some other people near a bridge. Four young people had just been baptized into Christ! We congratulated them and Timothy was asked to pray for them. I dug out some baptismal certificates for Daniel to fill out and give to the new converts.
Tonight at Kulkpeni there were more children attending. They have learned 9 of the apostle’s names and several short scriptures. I finally remembered to get a table prepared and deliver it to Kulkpeni. The men were glad to have it.
That wraps up another Lord’s Day. Hope you’re in good health; if not we wish for a speedy recovery.
May God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
