Enoch did not get here until 9:30 last night. He said that when he got to Kumasi the Metro Mass buses were not running so he had to find a small bus to get on and they never move until all the seats have been sold and all the cargo that can possibly be loaded in and on top of the vehicle has been securely tied down. It is amazing how much stuff they are able to pack on a vehicle! My brother Buz used to say, “the laws of gravity do not apply in Ghana!”
Enoch was exhausted when he got here and when Steve asked him if he was hungry he said no but when I told him that the food was ready to be plated and that I had fixed fried chicken, Jollof rice and fried plantain and that he could take it to his room and eat it after he had a shower he decided that he was hungry. We thought that he might be staying for at least part of the day today because he had arrived so late but he said that he needed to head out at 6:00 this morning so he would hopefully be in Wa before dark. We got up this morning and fixed him a fried egg sandwich to take for his breakfast and we also sent fried chicken, a loaf of bread, an apple, cokes and water. No one is going to be hungry on our watch! I am sure that he enjoyed the long ride much better with something to eat. Enoch called about 5 and said that he had arrived safely.
Steve and I have spent the whole day working on the books and entering receipts. The hardest part has been trying to remember what we did the last time we worked on the books. We have not even thought about them since the end of December. We are almost finished; at least we are at a good stopping point.
Nazo asked for an advance on his pay because he has a brother in Tamale that had a serious motorcycle accident about 6 months ago and is just now getting to the place where he can walk but he still is not able to do any actual work. Nazo wanted to send part of his pay to him so his family would have something to eat.
Thank you for all you do for us and for the work! Without our faithful friends and family the work would not go on.
In His service,
Steve and Kandie
