We spent the bulk of the day working on the books and entering receipts. We got all the small receipts entered but we did not get the figures tallied for the wall. I am terrible with a calculator when my mind is fresh so we did not even try to work on that portion of the receipts today. Steve usually runs the calculator for me. We can’t put it off too long because we have to pay the withholding tax on all the stuff we bought.
Dawda came for a little while this afternoon to dismantle the pillar boxes. They are a one time use but the wood can be used again for another building project so we will store them until our next project. The wood has bits of cement on it so it can only be used for another project where cement is involved. Dawda said he was late coming because he had to mold cement blocks for someone. Now that is hot hard work!
Red called a little while ago and the line was terrible; it was difficult to hear what he was saying but the gist of it was that the generator worked and that he had some other work to do and he would try to come tomorrow. I told him not to worry because we were going to the village tomorrow for church.
We set Mr. Iddrisu to dismantling barbed wire today. We need a heavier gauge wire to hang the razor wire and have not been able to find any in Yendi. Red came up with the idea of using barbed wire. The holes in the “T” post are too small to use the wire without removing the barbs. The good thing is that once the barbs are off we will get 2 usable strands of wire. He is going to continue removing barbs tomorrow. He is not cutting them to length because he does not know how long Red wants them to be.
Timothy and his brother Daniel, the church leader at Jagrido stopped by today. Daniel’s son is going to nurses’ school and it is time to pay the school fees but Daniel did not have enough money to pay the fees. Daniel had already sold his yams but he was still short of the money that was needed. He wanted us to loan him the money but we have no way of getting the money back from him because he does not work for us; besides we try our best not to put our hands in school fee matters. Steve gave him a small gift to help with the fees but it was not enough. Steve told Timothy that he could loan Timothy the money and remove it each month from his pay packet. In the end Timothy took the loan.
Have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
