The little guy we started feeding last week died. He is the one that we struggled and struggled to get him to drink just a couple tablespoons of formula. He had been in the hospital and was just strong enough to nurse. So sad!
As soon as the Child Center closed this morning we headed to Tamale. This is our last full week in Yendi; we wanted to go to the Registrar General’s office one more time to check on our documents to secure the land. Steve had been in contact with the officer who has been helping us; he led us to believe that he would be around this week but when we got to his office the other guys working there told Steve that he was not around and that he had not come to the office today and was not expected. Oh! Well what is new? He failed us yet again!
We also needed to go get money from the Tamale bank to put in the Yendi bank to cover the surgeries, artificial leg and the churches paperwork while we are gone. It is so much easier for the workers to get money out of the bank in Yendi than having to go to Tamale to get it. It was a quick trip. We left the mission house around 12:00 and got back shortly after 4:00. We did not dilly dally; and fortunately the bank was not busy.
Zorash did not come to work today; her volunteer group is going around from village to village talking to the villagers about peace and peace keeping. Personally it seems like a waste of time especially when everything is already peaceful. They are going to meet in the Kulkpeni church building because they do not want to spend the money to rent chairs; they can use the church pews for free! Evidently the group was having a hard time finding face masks so Zorash bought them from us. Ghana is still under a mask order if everyone in the group has not been fully vaccinated.
Last night we realized that the man at the tax office who prepared the taxes for the month of May did not download the excel spreadsheet for May onto our flash drive so guess where Steve was first thing this morning? You are right! He was back up at the tax office. It only took the guy a few minutes to download the file but we really have to have it as proof of what was paid.
Please keep us in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
