Today is our grandson Taylor’s 17th birthday and we are going to miss the festivities! We almost always miss his birthday; we were there for his birthday the year after Covid. It is one of the downsides of being in Ghana.
Our trip to Tamale was unsuccessful. We were not able to pick up the documents. They only had part of the name on them and they still listed all the elders as Ghanaians even though the document they used to fill the forms was their American passport. The guy really thought that we would accept them and make the corrections later but we are still waiting on them to make the corrections on the documents for the Child Center that they filled out in 2007. The Child Center documents also say that Steve and I are Ghanaians. This office’s track record for correcting mistakes is not so good. The guy that is helping us assured us that they would be ready and the corrections made in 5 to 7 days. We are not holding our breath! Of course yet another form had to be filled out requesting the mistakes that were their fault be changed. Please!
We took advantage of our trip to Tamale to pick up the payroll for March and to buy a new leaf blower. We do not use it to blow leaves; we use it to blow the dust off the verandas and the vehicles.
Speaking of dust, Amama showed me that the curtains in the living room / dining room were full of dust. She wanted to know if we could wash them. I hate to wash them when it is the dry season because water is so precious and the dust is so bad that they will just get dusty again but I went ahead and washed them. There are long curtains and short curtains. The long curtains are about 3 feet longer than the short ones. After we washed them I told her to hang them up wet so they would dry without all the wrinkles and save ironing them. When I passed back through she had hung a long panel and a short panel on the same windows. She was totally unaware that there was a problem. I guess if you are not used to having curtains you have no idea how they should look after they are hung.
The masons got more sections finished today than they did yesterday and they were working with one less man. Today they finished 20 sections and have made the first corner. The property is “L” shaped. Dawda the mason had us rent a few more walking boards and another bench; I think that made the work go faster.
Keep the workers in your prayers as they work on the wall.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
