When we got to the immigrations office this morning Steve’s medical certificate was not ready. We only had to wait a little while for the information to be entered and printed. Then Steve had to go back to the doctor for a consultation. Steve was pronounced healthy enough to stay in Ghana and to carry out his work. Isn’t that good to know?
It was lunch time by the time we got out of the immigrations office so we went back to Osu, the area where we ate Indian food yesterday. While we were walking around yesterday we saw a sign for a Korean restaurant. We went in search of it today. We were excited when we found the sign board and actually found the restaurant. The food was delicious! It is definitely a place we want to go to again.
After lunch we went to High Street to the cultural center and did a little shopping. I have been hunting for one particular piece of fabric for a long time; it is actually for funerals but it would make a perfect table cloth for Halloween. It has a black background that is speckled with what appear to be orange jelly beans and big orange mouths and orange teeth! Ok! I never said the fabric was beautiful; it is far from beautiful! There is also a message printed under the orange teeth that is written in Twi (the language of the people in the southern part of Ghana. I actually remembered to bring the scrap of material that matches the piece of fabric I am looking for. I asked a bunch of vendors before I found one that knew where to get the fabric. They were surprised that I wanted that particular piece of fabric because the message translates “There is death in the house!” The message seems to add a little something to the Halloween theme. The fabric is a gift for my sister. She loves Halloween! Don’t you wish you were my sister and I was buying gifts for you?
Hope you have a good day!
