Could you hear us shouting?  Steve got the Starlink system up and running this afternoon.  After he got it working he had to secure the system so that every Tom, Dick and Harry did not have access to it.  Can’t you just imagine the chaos that we would have when everyone in Yendi found out that we have WiFi?  The motorcycles, yellow yellows and bicycles would be lining the property.   It would be a mess!  The system seems to be working well; we even had a good enough connection that we were able to facetime our kids.  Can you imagine sitting in the middle of West Africa with a real internet connection?  We might still spend several hours a day on the computer but it will not be because we are trying to get online; it will be because we are looking at the news or communicating with friends.

It has been raining heavily for the past 20 minutes or so!  The rain is a big surprise; a surprise that we are delighted with.  Steve pulled the van out into the yard so it could have a bath.  Nothing like God’s car wash!  We let the water run off the roof for a little while before we diverted it into the cistern.  We wanted most of the dirt and bird droppings that were on the roof to wash away before we started catching the water.  The cistern was empty but we still have water in the huge poly tanks.  We are anxious to see how much rain water we will catch with this rain.  We were contemplating buying a tank of water to dip the boards that the carpenters will use when they put on the new round house roofs.  The carpenter is still hunting for the wood.  Hopefully it will come in the next couple days.

Steve bought 2 new tires for the van.  He had one put on the rim of the tire that blew.  There is no one in Yendi that can balance the tires so we will drive the van to Tamale tomorrow and have the tires balanced.  They probably will not stay in balance very long on these rough roads but at least they will start out balanced.

We have no watchmen tonight.  Tichak called to tell us that he was helping Kwabena, the other watchman, solve some sort of problem.  I guess that we will have to wait until tomorrow night to find out what was going on.

Have a great day!
In HIS Service,

Steve, Kandie and Skeeter

P.S.  We have two special requests for prayers.  Please pray for Mike, Larry Underwood’s brother and family; Mike is critically ill and not doing very well.  Larry and Pam Underwood are the mother and father of our daughter-in-law Melissa.

Please pray for Ray Keimig; he underwent open heart surgery yesterday morning.  The doctors say that he is doing very well.  Please pray for a speedy recovery.

The Monkeyshines

I was so scared when the wind started blowing and the rain started hitting the roof!  I guess I was too little to remember last year’s storms!  It was terrible. I was so happy that I was inside the house and not out in my jail cell!  Being in the house helped but not much; I cried and cried begging someone to come and pick me up.  Mom kept saying I was going to be fine and that the rain was nice.  Then the worst thing ever happened; both Mom and Dad left me in the house while they went outside to divert the water so that it would go into the cistern (I have no idea what I am talking about; that is just what I heard them saying)!  When they left I panicked!  I pulled on my leash so hard that I turned over the chair I was tied to and escaped.  When they came back in I was sitting on top of the door that they went out of crying for them to come back in!  As soon as Mom walked past I jumped on her shoulder and I hung on for dear life!  I crawled down inside Mom’s dress and all was well with  my world again!  I went to sleep and when I woke up the rain had stopped.

No More Rain!

Love, Skeeter
