Divine was our first visitor of the morning.  Once again he is helping with the church registration.  This is a thankless job and we are so happy that Divine has taken over the oversight of this job.  It involves running back and forth to Tamale and getting signatures from the men in the various churches.  Every year they add something or the other to the list of stuff that they need.  This year they are requiring each church to fill out some sort of beneficiary form at a cost of 120 Cedis per church.  It is just another way for the government to make money.  The Registrar General’s office has changed auditors three times over the years; each change attracts a fee of 150 Cedis.  150 Cedis is equal to about 15 dollars; the money is really not the issue; it is getting the men from the churches to come in and sign the document that takes so much time and money.  Anyway we are happy that Divine is the one that has most of this headache.

The mother of the young man that died a few weeks ago from Hepatitis B came to the Center this morning.  She brought the little 7 month old child of man that passed away.  She was worried about the child because she said that the child was not eating well and she wanted us to start giving the child formula because the child is now an orphan.  We explained that was not the way the Child Center worked.  The mother is still alive and the mother is still breastfeeding the child.  We only give formula to a child when the mother is the parent that has died.  The child is old enough to start eating “real” food so Steve gave her some weaning mix and liquid vitamins.  He told her to come back in 2 weeks and we would check the weight to make sure the baby was gaining.

Steve is outside vacuuming the truck.  We have to go to Tamale tomorrow to get the payroll out of the bank.  Lucky me!  Steve likes the truck to be clean; it is not high on my list of stuff to do!  We have a few errands to run while we are over there.  We are in search of baby strollers.  We like to have them on hand just in case a mother comes that needs one.  We cannot buy them new but we can buy used ones that are brought in from other countries.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support. We appreciate all you do for us and for the work.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
