Timothy Niligrini was able to get in contact with Brother Foster, a church leader at the Borido congregation, yesterday and he invited us to worship with them this morning. Borido is east of Yendi about 8-10 miles.  I would give you the exact miles but the odometer on the green pickup hasn’t worked for years so I just give you a ballpark estimate. (Ha!) We had several large rain filled potholes (20 ft across) to go around as we got near the village.

The congregation was singing everyone in when we arrived at 9:30.  We sang for another 15 minutes until a large number of men came into the building.  To our surprise and joy the men and women walked from the nearby congregation at Kpanjamba for a joint worship service. There were so many people in the little church building that we suggested going outside under the tree and the Church agreed. There were not enough seats for everyone so I let down the tailgate on the pickup and the kids piled into the bed of the truck. The total number of adults with the children attending amounted to 99.  Luckily for us the sky was cloudy which made the outside much more comfortable. I didn’t notice a single adult that was sleeping during my lesson. Brother Foster asked me to teach a lesson to encourage the church members to apply themselves to the work of the Church.  I used Mark 4 where Christ told the parable of the Sower. I concentrated on the thorny and weedy ground that can cause a plant not to produce as it should.

Questions were asked and biblical answers were given after the close of the worship service. We also learned there were people who wished to be baptized. After they confessed Christ we loaded up the truck with the candidates for baptism and a few others and drove down the road to the water hole where the baptisms could be properly performed. Brother Foster rolled up his pants and did the baptizing. There were 9 souls saved today. We thank God! After praying for the new converts we went back to the church building.

The church building is in need of metal doors and windows. The brethren had found it difficult to come up with the money to match the funds so we agreed to have the doors and windows built and they will provide the mason and cement to finish the job. The door dimensions are 34 inches X 72 inches and the windows will be 30 inches square. All made of metal so termites can’t damage them.

Before we left the village we stopped by the chief’s house and greeted him.  Kandie teased the chief after we gave him the kola (money) and told him he should share with his wife. He came back with the idea that since I had given him money Kandie should give his wife some money. The wife wasn’t present so we gave the money to the chief’s daughter to give to her mother. Everybody thought it was just hilarious to give the wife kola. It does make for good relations for us and the Lord’s Church.

Tonight at Kulkpeni I was given the opportunity to greet the Church and tell them about those of you who said to say “Hi” to them.  They really enjoyed it!

That wraps up another Lord’s Day in Yendi.  Thanks for all your kind words and support!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
