Red, the part time driver, stopped by this afternoon.  Steve had asked him to come because we need to nail down our plans for our trip to Accra next week to pick up our grandson Taylor and son-in-law Marcus.  Red said that he will be free to take us to and from the airport and to drive us to  Mole, the game reserve.  While he was here I fussed at him for not getting the metal doors and windows finished.  We need them to replace the termite damaged doors and windows at Kulkpeni in their classroom/sleeping quarters.  We contracted the job with him shortly after we came back to Ghana.  It has taken far too long to get them finished.  He agreed that it had been too long and apologized for the delay.   He said that the doors and windows were finished and the only thing left was the gate.  When I told him we were coming to pick them up this afternoon he started back peddling.   The problem is Red is not the one actually doing the work.  He has sub-contracted the work out to some other men.  He said that he would check to see if they were completely finished and he would get back to us.  We need them because before the mason can put them in the buildings they have to be painted.  I think this might be another project that will not get finished until our next trip into Ghana.

We worked on the books this morning.  We are trying to get a jump start on them so we don’t have so much to do at the end of the month.

Steve has been in contact with the distributor for the formula.  They have been texting back and forth.  Sometimes it is difficult for them to get the quantity that we need since we are not a distributor.  We thought that we might have to go into the town to all the small shops and buy it piece by piece but the guy just texted Steve and told him he had found enough for our order.  Steve has gone to town to send the money to him through the mobile phone.  The order is large so he might have to go to a couple places to get it sent.

The dead cat smell in the van is getting better day by day!  I hope that we are not just getting used to it!  Ha!  Steve’s Aunt Mabel told us to try warm cinnamon; it helped some but not nearly enough; if we had a way of keeping it warm I think it would have done a better job.  Our niece Lyndie told us to try coffee grounds.  We do not have ground coffee in Yendi but we have instant coffee.  We sprinkled the coffee all over the floors but the weather was so hot that it caused the coffee to melt and turn dark like it was burnt.  When Steve started mopping the floor to get up the melted coffee the water reactivated the coffee and started absorbing the smell.  We are excited.  When the van dries out we will open some tins of coffee and put them in the van.  We don’t need the van until Monday so hopefully by then the odor will be gone!

Hope you have a great day!

In His service,

Steve and Kandie
