Gomda, the mechanic got the starter for the old van installed it; it seems to be working just fine. Gomda’s labor is always cheap for what he does. Today he only asked for 30 Cedis which is about 5 dollars. Of course we gave him more than that. Parts on the other hand are more costly. The starter cost 600 Cedis which is about 100 dollars; still not a bad deal considering.
Today was a holiday but Meri, a Child Center worker, said that she wanted to work and pick her holiday another day because one of the women that lives in the house with her is expecting and she needs to take off when the baby is born. Zorash came today and made up some of the time she used last week. We were happy that Meri and Zorash came today because the mothers had no idea that it was a holiday. We would have had to turn them away if we did not have an interpreter.
Warihana’s father, the girl that we have been helping with her Osteomyelitis for the past 2 years, came to the Center this morning. He said that the doctor had fully released Warihana and that she no longer had to walk with the hand crutch. He brought the hand crutch back to us in case we found someone else that needed it. Maybe she can get back to a “normal” life. Steve told her father to watch very carefully for any sign of infection or complaint of pain because it could get re-infected.
Nazo was off yesterday so he did not know that it was a holiday until Steve called him this morning to tell him not to come to work. He came to pick up his pay because today is payday for the workers. Tichak, the night watchman came to get his pay and Timothy Niligrini, the evangelist came to get the food money for the monthly classes that will be held at the end of the week. While Timothy was here I showed him the quilt top I have been working on. He thought it was beautiful but did not understand how the blocks fit together so we had a little sewing class. He took the quilt block pattern with him so he can try to turn his scraps into something beautiful.
The goat is still here so this afternoon we set a trap for her in the garage. After several attempts we finally caught her. Goats are very noisy when they are caught! We took a piece of cloth and tied a muzzle around her mouth so she could not make too much noise. We put her on the floor of the back seat of the green truck and took her about 10 miles outside of town and set her free. There were several goats roaming around the place we let her out so she will have some friends. Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo are not interested in helping catch the goat just in case she is not really a goat. If it is a witch it would be bad to do anything to the goat. We did not do anything to the goat; we just gave her a new home. We are keeping her transfer a secret. Ha!
Have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
