We woke to a puddle of water on the floor this morning!  We sleep in a waterbed, if you can imagine that!  During the night it had sprung a leak.  We had to empty about ½ the water in the bed to get to the leak.  I hated to see that water pour out on the ground from the siphoning hose!  We have not had rain for many weeks because the dry season is upon us.  We probably won’t get more than a sprinkle of rain until the end of March.   A cuticle trimming tool had gotten wedged in the side of the bed and made a tiny hole.  We keep a waterbed patch on hand for just such an occasion.  We love sleeping on a water bed.  If our bedroom wasn’t upstairs in our house in the states I would not mind having one there too.  Fortunately all the floors in the mission house are either cement or tile so the water can’t hurt them.  Steve removed the patch clamps a few minutes ago and is in the process of refilling the bed.  We had to do three loads of washing today because the mattress pad, sheets and all the towels we used to sop up the water had to be washed.

Today 2 more children were brought to the Child Center that had serious motor skill problems.  They were around 2 years old.  Many times the mothers and the family ignore the early signs of a disability until it becomes glaringly evident that something is wrong.  Sometimes the mother fear that the old people in the village will insist that the family call in the Juju (witchdoctor , soothsayer) to determine if the child should be done away with so they keep their fears quiet until the child is ready to be weaned.

We got word that Timothy Bueado, one of the former evangelists, died yesterday.  He had been sick for a while and his family had sent him to some traditional healer to procure a cure.  Evidently it did not work!  Timothy is the son of the elder at Nakpachee and he is also their assemblyman, sort of like a city councilman.  Timothy was a member of the church but he left the church years ago because he wanted polygamy.  So sad!

Steve spent ½ the morning helping the workers fill out the beneficiary documents for their Social Security death benefits.  Some of them will have to bring additional information to work tomorrow to complete the forms.

Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu have been digging out the stump of the tree Steve cut down a couple weeks ago.  The roots are running under the wall and cracking the wall.  This is the second stump they have dug out.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
