The number of mothers that came to the Center this morning was up compared to yesterday. We had 159 again today. We ran out of clothes for the big kids so we started passing out book bags. They were thrilled with the book bags. When the mothers get the clothes almost all of them sit down and open them before they leave the Center. The mothers are so excited to get the clothes. This morning I saw a couple mothers undress their children and put the new clothes on them before they left. Isn’t that precious? Don’t you wish that we could be so grateful for the little things?
Steve called Mr. Iddrisu to see how he was doing after his eye surgery. He said that they were to remove the bandages today. There was a lot of background noise when Steve talked to him and he was speaking very low so we presume that he was at the hospital waiting his turn to see the doctor. A group of visiting doctors come to Yendi to do the eye surgery for those that need it. They will be here for a few days and then the people will have to wait until the next time they come. Mr. Iddrisu is going to have to have his other eye done at some time. Steve asked him if the surgery was painful; he said, “Well, somehow it was a bit painful.” Hopefully his surgery will be a success and he will want to get the other eye done. We are not sure how many days he will be off work.
Meri had an ultrasound of her baby yesterday. She is huge and she had twins with one of her other births. We had asked her if she was having twins again. The ultrasound showed that there was only one baby and that it was a boy. Meri cannot read so I told her what the scan said. This is the first time I have seen one that told the sex of the baby. Meri has more girls than she does boys. When I told her they said it was a boy she did not really believe they could tell. We will see if they are correct. The estimated date of birth is October 27.
Steve finished the lessons on husbands and wives and their responsibilities so we spent part of the afternoon editing them and adding questions and the practical application to each of the lessons.
It rained off and on this afternoon and the electricity went off and on but it never stayed off long enough to start the generator. Hopefully it will be cooler tomorrow.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
