At 9:30 this morning the van driver arrived for us to go to the airport. He had the van loaded so Kandie and I jumped in the van after counting the bags. Guess what? The van wouldn’t start! It wouldn’t make a sound. Richard, the driver worked diligently on the battery but gained nothing. He even borrowed a battery from another van across the street and still nothing. We tried to push the vehicle to start it but nothing doing. By this time we decided to find another means of travel. We were lucky to find an empty van passing by us and the driver agreed to take all 10 pieces plus 5 small carry-ons pieces of luggage to the airport leaving Richard , the driver with the disabled van. The van that took us to the airport was a moving wreck!

We still managed to get to the airport in plenty of time to check in.  The ticket agent figured out the cost of the excess luggage and showed it to me; 2,376 Ghana Cedis ($208) . I reassured him we already were aware of the cost having done it plenty of times. While I was paying for the excess luggage Kandie walked over to the forex  to change our dollars that we had brought in. We want to exchange our dollars at the Accra Forex’s because they give more than the bank or the forex in Tamale. We try to get as much bang for our buck. Well, the forex attendant didn’t have enough Cedis for the amount of money we were exchanging so she took off to go to another office to get the remaining money. By the time she got back and counted out the money we met the ticket agent on the way to the scanner. He said they had already called us to board so we hurriedly got through the scanner and we raced to the gate which was very close by. We made the flight with the Lord’s help.

Red, our part time driver was arriving at the airport parking lot as we were walking from the plane into the Tamale airport. All of our bags arrived! Before leaving Tamale we bought some fruit and stopped at the Shell petrol station to buy diesel. There is a KFC at the station so we bought our lunch and Red’s before heading for Yendi.

We arrived in Yendi around 4pm. On the way to Yendi, Red said that his wife’s mother was having trouble walking. He asked if we had a cane for her to use.  When we arrived at the compound Kandie found a cane she could have. Then we took Red back to his house.   From there we went to the market to get some vegetables.

Thanks for all your prayers and may God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
